Sanchez joined the liberation army as one of it's founders, along with Odessa, Flik, Viktor and Humphrey. During the war, he helps Tir and his comrades out. Although not having much of a role in the game, it is not until the end of the war, that his true colors are shown.
During the end of the Toran Liberation War, at the fortress of Shasarazade, the goal for Tir's group, was to invade Shasarazade, to defeat and bring Sonya along. Once the team resurfaces from the fortress, it was to be set on fire. As soon as Tir McDohl and the rest of the party fought Sonya Shulen, Sanchez lit oil before receiving orders in order to kill Tir. After Tir and the rest of the party escaped from the fortress, Sanchez confessed that he was deceiving the Liberation Army and was the spy who leaked any information to the Imperial Army and the one who leaked news of Odessa Silverberg's death. He also told them that his heart was in pain and being by the Liberation Army's side, he started to question himself, but he still chose to remained loyal to Barbarossa. Flik, in a furious rage, was ready to kill Sanchez but was stopped by Mathiu Silverberg. Due to the fact that if he killed Sanchez right away, it will plummet the morale of the Liberation Army.
Role in the game
He is one of the two characters, that Tir can ask to form a current party (The other being Mathiu).
Trivia

- There are theories in Suikoden II that the old man who is at Gregminister is actually Sanchez since the sprite looks like him.
