Kanaan (カナン; Kanan) is a minor antagonist in Suikoden.
A 33-year-old male whose hometown is not named. Formerly the deputy captain of the Imperial Guard in the Scarlet Moon Empire. For a time, he was the superior officer to Tir McDohl. A classic corrupt official, he once took credit for Tir's achievements to curry favor with his superiors. When his superior Kraze was demoted for failing to capture the Tir, he quickly aligned himself with his new boss, Yuber, adopting a sycophantic attitude toward those in power. After the war, he committed fraud in Gregminster and was eventually arrested.

Suikoden I
During a mission accompanying Tir McDohl to Rockland to collect taxes, Kanaan witnesses Ted using the Soul Eater to defeat a particularly troublesome monster while retrieving stolen tax money from the Mt. Seifu Bandits. Upon returning to Gregminster, Kanaan asked Ted to accompany him to the castle, Ted accepted, not knowing what it was about. After the events at the castle, Kanaan continued to serve the empire, being later seen working with Yuber before the final battle at Gregminster.
Suikoden II
A few years after the Toran Liberation War, Kanaan was arrested for fraud in Gregminster.

In Suikoden II, at Gregminster Castle, an NPC tells Riou that Kanaan was arrested for fraud.
