Tank (vehicle)

A Tank is a vehicle that appears in the Sonic the Hedgehog series. It is an armored combat vehicle on treads that is used by Guardian Units of Nations in times of warfare, most notably the Black Arms incident.

Description

Appearance

The only GUN tank seen during the Black Arms incident was painted green, and was armed with a cannon. The digital copies of tanks encountered by Sonic during the Starfall Islands incident had a grey paint job instead, and had a machine gun in addition to a cannon. Both models used treads to traverse on the ground. The latter variation of the tank appears to be largely based on the M1 Abrams^W.

Features and abilities

Tanks use their cannons to shoot projectiles at their targets, dealing physical damage.

Game appearances

Shadow the Hedgehog

In Shadow the Hedgehog, a green tank can be seen in the cutscene where Black Doom threatens the earth, played upon defeating the Blue Falcon. A weapon called the "Tank Cannon" can be accessed through secret doors in certain levels, and Doctor Eggman's dialogue upon finding one implies that the cannon used to be part of a tank.

Sonic Frontiers

Copies of tanks appear in Cyber Space levels themed after the Eternal Highway as enemies. Sonic can destroy them with a Homing Attack.

Shadow Generations

One scene in "Shadow's Story" depicts an encounter between Shadow and GUN Soldiers, supported by tanks.
