  • Reeves exists in the Sonic the Hedgehog films because in the first film, Sonic eavesdrops on Tom and Maddie watching Speed, which stars Reeves as Officer Jack Traven, and explicitly refers to Reeves as a "national treasure". In the episode "The Shabbat Dinner", from the Knuckles television series, the movie poster of the film is featured in Wade's room.
  • Sonic the Hedgehog 2's "The Choice Is Yours" poster is a reference to the Matrix franchise about red or blue pill, where Reeves played Neo.
  • Interestingly, in the TV show Inside Job, his fictional self is voiced by current Sonic the Hedgehog voice actor Roger Craig Smith.
  • Reeves had previously worked with Ben Schwartz (Sonic) in the 2022 movie DC League of Super-Pets and Idris Elba (Knuckles) in the video game Cyberpunk 2077.
    • The CyberpunkGame X (which is the official X account of Cyberpunk 2077) account posted a reply on the SonicMovie (which is the official account of the Sonic the Hedgehog film series) X account[3] which was the post of the official Sonic the Hedgehog 3 trailer that was released on 27 August 2024.
  • The official trailer of Sonic the Hedgehog 3 was released on 27 August 2024, just six days before the sixtieth birthday of Keanu Reeves (which was on September 2, 2024).
  • He, Ben Schwartz (the voice of Sonic), Colleen O'Shaughnessey (the voice of Tails), and Idris Elba (the voice of Knuckles), all share their birthdays in September.
  • He and Colleen are the only Sonic VAs to have voiced the same character in a video game and later in a movie, as the Sonic 3 Movie Pack releases on December 12th, eight days before the third Sonic movie is released.
    • He is also currently the only actor from the films to be in a Sonic game.
  • Keanu voicing Shadow is somewhat meta in nature, as one of the films he starred in, Constantine, served as partial inspiration for Shadow's standalone game.
  • Keanu was the one who pitched Sonic and Shadow's first interaction in the movie.[4]
