The Sumo is a very large white and red robot with multiple protrusions on its spherical head.
History
Sonic Frontiers
The Sumo was constructed by the Ancients as one of the many Guardians set to protect the Starfall Islands. Stationed in the sandy outskirts of Ares Island, it remained functional thousands of years after its creators' demise. Sonic the Hedgehog could encounter them during his exploration of Ares Island, battling them for their Portal Gear.
Powers and abilities
While its shield is on, Sumo is immune to any attacks. Its fists hold enough power to cause the ground to shake and do damage to Sonic. It can also send one(and later two) of its arms after the player and respawn it into itself.
Weakness
Sumo can be inflated, negating it's shield and making it bouncy by using Cyloop or Quick Cyloop, which also causes its moving arm attack to de-spawn. Sumo is also vulnerable to electricity and any exposure to it causes Sumo to be paralyzed and receive a decent amount of damage, as well as leaving it vulnerable to other attacks.
Battle
Sumo is a boss that can be fought in the Ares Island.[1]
Boss guide
When the player gets into Sumo's arena, Sumo's main body will be protected by a shield that blocks any attack. In order to expose it, the player must use the Cyloop move while avoiding getting smacked(or just use the Quick Cyloop). Once exposed, the player can use its body to bounce off it into the surrounding wall of blue beams, then use the button to charge Sonic's attack from the wall and bounce off into Sumo's body. This process of bouncing back and forth between Sumo and the surrounding wall is repeated until Sumo loses it balance and it, itself, starts bouncing back and forth off the walls. Once this happens, the player must push Sumo towards some purple-colored electrified portions of the wall using afterward attacks in order to deal damage(Though it will often end up naturally bouncing into the walls naturally). You can also bounce off the walls without using Cyloop to push it towards the electric walls, but that is very hard to do. Once electrified, the player can deal additional damage while it is paralyzed. After Sumo regains control over itself, it will raise up its shield once again, prompting the player to repeat the whole process again.
This process often needs to be done at least twice for Sumo to be defeated.

Trivia
If the player stands and does not approach the Sumo at the beginning of the boss fight, it will, strangely, not attack Sonic.
Sumo is extremely useful in completing Action Chain Challenges because each bounce counts as a hit, which adds as a combo. Most of the time, Sonic will enter Phantom Rush from simply bouncing off of Sumo repeatedly.
