Defensive weapon
Resident location and/or bases
The defensive weapons [ 1] are a group that appears in the Sonic the Hedgehog series . They are an army of mass-produced robots created by the Ancients that are powered by Chaos Emerald energy which roam around Ouranos Island . Oddly, all of the defensive weapons are identical to specific models of Badniks , despite being around long before the Badniks were ever created.
Description
Despite being made long before them, the defensive weapons look nearly identical to various commonly used Badnik models created by Dr. Eggman , specifically the designs of these Badniks during the Wisp incident . Despite this, there are a few design differences between the defensive weapons that differentiate them from the Badniks that they resemble, such as their pink and cyan color scheme, and having triangle-shaped pupils.
Functionally, the defensive weapons behave nearly identically to the Badnik models that they resemble, using the same attack patterns and being relatively fragile. However, unlike the Badniks, the defensive weapons can rebuild themselves after being destroyed by reacting to the gravitational pull of meteors that rotate around the Earth .
History
Past
The Defensive weapons were created by the Ancients , with the purpose of protecting Ouranos Island from foreign threats. They are powered by Chaos Emerald energy and were designed so that, if they were to be destroyed, they will automatically rebuild themselves by reacting to the gravitational pull of meteors that rotate around the Earth . Despite this, by the time of the events of Sonic Frontiers they had stopped functioning.
Sonic Frontiers
By the time Dr. Eggman arrived too the Starfall Islands , the defensive weapons had ceased functioning. Once he became trapped in Cyber Space , Sage reawakened the robots to protect her creator.
During Another Story , Sonic , Amy , Knuckles and Tails faced many defensive weapons while pursuing their respective tasks, leading Knuckles to ask Sage to inform him about them.
Overview
In Sonic Frontiers - The Final Horizon , defensive weapons serve as common enemies in the Open Zone gameplay. Depending on each type, they can be found stationary in a fixed location Open Zone field. In gameplay, most weapons such as the Buzzer -like robots and both Spinner -like robots will remain in their fixed locations and attack when the player is in vicinity, though they will make no effort to approach the player. Others however, like the Moto Bug -like robots, attempt to ram the player when they are in range. Similar to most Badniks , defensive weapons are very fragile. Any attack will instantly destroy them. After being destroyed, they are disintegrated into the air in tiny digital pieces, though due to their unique abilities, within moments the robots will quickly fade back to its original position shortly after being destroyed as if they were never destroyed.

Trivia
It is unknown why the defensive weapons resemble Dr. Eggman 's Badniks (specifically their appearances during the Wisp incident ), as they were created tens of thousands of years before Dr. Eggman was even born.
