Portal 3-1 or just 3-1, is a Cyber Space stage in Sonic Frontiers. It is the first Cyber Space stage in Chaos Island, and the fifteenth one overall.

Description

Main article: Green Hill

3-1 is an stage with Cyber Space aesthetics based on the specific depiction of the Green Hill Zone from the console/PC version of Sonic Generations. This stage also incorporates elements from the Green Hill Zone previously seen in previous Cyber Space stages.

Portal location

In Chaos Island, the entrance Portal to the Cyber Space stage is located on top of a large hill to the south of the main island, south-west of the huge crater. To make the Portal gain access to the Cyber Space stage, a single Portal Gear is required to be collected for it.

Gameplay

The stage features gimmicks resembling Pullies with different functionalities, such as simple chains that swing back and forth and require a well-timed jump, while other swinging chains will spin 360 degrees at an angle. There are also loops - some with gaps in-between, and disintegrating platforms.

Overview

After the first Jump Panel, the player will encounter some Eggrobos. Straight ahead, the road bends down and then banks to the left, which takes the player to the Jump Panel and a Star Post.

The road then banks to the right with an abyss on the inside and a rail on the outside - which draws into the middle and has a spring at the end. Homing Attack the pulley, and then use it again to defeat the series of badniks up ahead. At the end of this road is a spring leading to a Pulley. After another fast section is a complex area littered with badniks at the start. The camera will turn to the right where this turn takes the player up to the next level. Boost towards the dash panels to ascend up the half-loop.

Beyond the second Star Post is a fast section leading to a swinging vine. The player will then encounter a group of floating terrain blocks. Simply Homing Attack the Buzzer and the Spring close by.

Past the third Star Post is an upwards spring, leading to a group of floating platforms with springs in various places. As Sonic launches off the fourth spring, defeat the Buzzer (and/or the Eggrobo at the far end) with a Homing Attack to make the platform safely before going up the fifth spring. Once up the sixth spring, they will need to make a decision between the platform on the left and the platform-less Buzzer on the right. The last spring terminates the section.

Once Sonic is down the pulley, he will come across the fourth Star Post, and some Badniks which require defeating. Once they swing around the last pulley, they will encounter and land on one of the red of a group of terrain blocks: The red ones will disintegrate and fall, while the green ones ahead will rise slowly and stop in various places. Find the spring and Homing Attack it to reach the Portal Gate.

Red Star Ring locations

  • The first Red Star Ring is present at the end of a Grind Rail around the outside of a banked right-hand bend.
  • Past the first Star Post, the second Red Star Ring is found placed before the downward slope.
  • The third Red Star Ring is placed on one of the central floating blocks.
  • On top of a Spring at another floating block, the fourth Red Star Ring can be spotted during Sonic's ascent up a long wall.
  • Towards the end of the stage, the player has to take the Grind Rail on the outside of the left-hand banked bend to reach the fifth Red Star Ring.
