The scene in Sonic Adventure 2 where Shadow and Maria look over Earth from the Space Colony ARK is a reference to Please Save My Earth, one of Shiro Maekawa's favorite manga and anime—by sheer coincidence, Yuri Shiratori, who plays the lead role in the anime, voices Maria in Japanese.
