Statue

Turn the statue to open the gate

The Statue[1] (石像[2] Sekizō?) is a gimmick that appears in the Sonic the Hedgehog series. They are rocky structures found in Starfall Islands that can open large ancient gates.

Description

Statues are mossy stone structures about four times the height of Sonic. They depict a broad-shouldered figure with an elongated head and flat arms, as well as a triangular face screen, strongly resembling Ninja, sat upon a rectangular pillar. Certain parts of the statues are made of a grooved black material, much like other ancient devices found on the Starfall Islands. A black spike on the head allows a user to activate and operate the statues, though these seem to have broken off in many cases. Once activated, the statue's black spike and grooves glow a bright blue indefinitely.

Overview

In Sonic Frontiers, statues are present in Starfall Islands during the Open Zone gameplay. One active statue found in the isolated island portion of Kronos Island is also one of the first Island Mysteries to solve in the game as the player is required to use it to open the ancient gate blocking the linear route.

The player has to move Sonic in front of an active statue and then hold down the action button and then move the statue to left or right. This makes Sonic to wave his left arm, while the upper part of the statue is moving for given direction. As this is happening, Sonic's hand is also glowing blue. The player has to use one of following combinations of commands to execute the statue's movement:

Switch PC PlayStation 4 PlayStation 5 Xbox One Xbox Series X/S
+ left/right Left mouse button + [A]/[D] Square + left/right + left/right

Prior using the statue, the blue digital energy is not glowing before the player uses it. Once the statue's top part is moved to point into required direction, the gate will be open and the statue's digital energy on the black material continues glowing indefinitely.
