The Firecracker is an Item Box power-up that appears in the Sonic the Hedgehog series
Description The Firecracker's icon takes a red firecracker with a burning orange-yellow fire and white sprinkles. In gameplay, this power-up becomes the aforementioned burning firecrackers down the track.
Overview In gameplay, the Firecracker can only be obtained at random from Item Boxes by Dragonfire Sonic and Dragonclaw Tails . As with most other Items, Metal Sonic and Metal Sonic Mach 3.0 can also use the Firecracker if they use the Steal Item, or Fortune Teller Amy if she uses Lucky Draw or Wall of Cards to steal it from the aforementioned users.
Once obtained, the player can utilize the Firecracker by pressing its icon on the bottom of the HUD. When used, the Firecracker will drop burning firecrackers some distance ahead of the user's current location on all the lanes that the user is not currently on. If a character, including the user themselves, touches one of these firecrackers, they will damage the character, causing them to lose Rings and slow down momentarily. To avoid the Firecracker, the playable character must either jump over the firecrackers or run in-between them.
The Firecracker can also be upgraded by leveling the user up to level 4, 10 and 16 respectively. Every upgrade will increase damage dealt of the Firecracker.
