Playtime is over, hedgehog.

— Zavok, Sonic Lost World

Zavok (ザボック Zabokku?) is a character that appears in the Sonic the Hedgehog series. He is a Zeti who is the leader of the entire species, and specifically the Deadly Six.[4] Hailing from the Lost Hex, Zavok and the Deadly Six were forced to serve Dr. Eggman thanks to his use of the Cacophonic Conch. After Sonic disposed of the conch, Zavok and the others rebelled against Eggman, taking control of his Badniks and seeking world domination using his Extractor. Zavok and his team were stopped by Sonic, though not for good.

Appearance

SF STEAM MANUAL EN LRv5-13

Zavok is a red Zeti with a very stocky build. The majority of his upper body is pure red, as is his serpentine tail. He has five-fingered hands that are tipped with claw-like cyan nails. Zavok's body from the waist down is black in coloration, ending in two-clawed feet with cyan toes. His head is relatively small compared to the rest of his body and his lower jaw appears to stick out, showing a row of spiked "fangs". However, these are merely extensions of his torso that cover his actual lower jaw. The upper half of his head is black save for red markings around his eyes, which are purple with yellow sclera. Zavok has what appears to be a relatively thick cyan-colored unibrow that forms a vaguely V-shaped crest. Sticking out from the sides of his head, Zavok has a pair of viciously-curved horns that are striped in dark gray on his head and a large and cyan ponytail sticking out from the back of it. Zavok has two rows of sharp black spikes sticking out of his shoulders. His only attire is a pair of black bracelets with gray spikes jutting out.

History

Past

At some point, Zavok was taken under Master Zik's wing as the elderly Zeti's last disciple.[3] Under Zik's tutorage, Zavok was taught in martial arts and became quite powerful.[3][5] Many years ago, Zavok was brought into the Deadly Six when Master Zik formed the group,[6] with Zavok's skills making him well-suited for the position as their leader.[3]

Sonic Lost World

In the Wii U version and PC version of Sonic Lost World, Zavok and the rest of the Deadly Six met Dr. Eggman, who used a Cacophonic Conch to enslave them. Begrudgingly, Zavok assisted Dr. Eggman in his scheme for world domination by capturing Animals for an army of Badniks. As Dr. Eggman later showed Zavok how to make Badniks, he revealed how the Deadly Six would help him both conquer the world and defeat Sonic. Curious about Sonic, Zavok let Zazz fight him to learn more.

While in Windy Hill, Zavok and his team met Sonic, before coming with Dr. Eggman as he left Zazz to finish Sonic. Resuming the Animal hunt, Zavok spoke against Dr. Eggman's criticism of their efforts, only to be brought back in line by Dr. Eggman with the Cacophonic Conch. When Dr. Eggman later tested his unstable Extractor, Zavok secretly eavesdropped on the test. Zavok and the Deadly Six were later further scolded for their failures by Dr. Eggman with the Cacophonic Conch, only for Sonic to appear and knock the conch away. Now free, Zavok and his team took control of Dr. Eggman's Badniks and had them attack everyone present, before Zavok ordered his team to attack as well, effectively driving Dr. Eggman, Orbot, Cubot, Sonic, and Tails away.

Zavok laughing

Now free, the Deadly Six took control of Dr. Eggman's operations on the Lost Hex, but Sonic still opposed them. When Master Zik wanted to deal with Sonic, Zavok was reluctant to let him bother himself with that. When Master Zik returned, Zavok enacted his plan to destroy Earth with the Extractor and use the energy it harvested to make the Deadly Six stronger, as his revenge at Dr. Eggman, earning him the approval of his teacher. No sooner, Zavok tricked the lazy Zeena to go deal with Sonic. Zavok later contacted Sonic, Dr. Eggman and their allies to discourage them and mock Dr. Eggman before he was cut out. While studying Sonic, Zavok was inspired by Master Zik to make Sonic their slave by turning Sonic into a robot using what they had learned from Dr. Eggman. The Deadly Six quickly set up a trap for Sonic, only to find Tails caught in it when it returned. While annoyed, Zavok decided to use Tails to their advantage, before glaring at Zor who arrived to announce the failed capture of Sonic.

Zavok and Sonic

Finding Sonic himself, Zavok taunted Sonic with his plans to turn Tails into a robot and later the loss of his friends on Earth due to the Extractor, thus luring him into two separate fights with him, only to be beaten by Sonic. Frustrated at this, Zavok began the mechanization process on Tails as revenge and left the Roboticizer to finish it. Later on, Zavok confronted Sonic with Zor and Zeena, where he told Sonic to join Tails as he revealed a seemingly roboticized Tails. When Sonic refused, Zavok ordered Tails to kill Sonic, but was forced to retreat when Tails attacked him, having only pretended to be roboticized. Confronted by Sonic again, Zavok was defeated one last time by Sonic despite his Extractor-enhanced strength.

Team Sonic Racing

ZavokTeamSonicRacing

In Team Sonic Racing, Zavok joined forces with Dr. Eggman to defeat Sonic once and for all.[7] He was hired by the scientist to steal the Ultimate Energy Engine from its creator, Dodon Pa. During his mission, Zavok was spotted by Big. Fortunately for him, no one paid attention to Big's observation. However, he was eventually noticed by the Chao near a racetrack, causing him to be spotted by Sonic and the other racers. When Dr. Eggman pretended that he had nothing to do with Zavok's appearance at the Grand Prix, he hastily invited Zavok to join Team Eggman, and gave him the Road Dragoon to drive in. Afterward, Dr. Eggman rebuked Zavok for being discovered. Zavok immediately after made Dr. Eggman even angrier when he revealed that he had not been able to find the Ultimate Energy Engine. Dr. Eggman thus hoped that Zavok would do better in the Grand Prix. After losing several races however, Dr. Eggman began to insult Zavok for his lack of driving skill, deeming him pathetic. Zavok, however, insisted that their opponents were just strong and that he respected that, before warning him to keep his mouth shut. Later, Dr. Eggman offered Zavok a task he was much more suited for: kidnapping Dodon Pa.

After Zavok kidnapped Dodon Pa and brought him onboard the Final Fortress, Dr. Eggman demanded to Dodon Pa that he handed the Ultimate Energy Engine over to him. However, Dodon Pa revealed that it was unfinished, making it useless. Furthermore, the racers had stopped racing, and without them producing Ultimate Team Energy, the engine could never be finished. This prompted Zavok to point out to Dr. Eggman that this was his own fault: by kidnapping Dodon Pa, he had brought the Grand Prix to a halt and stopped the racers from producing the necessary energy. To compensate for this, Dr. Eggman tricked Sonic and his friends into racing his henchmen so that Dodon Pa could capture the heroes' Ultimate Team Energy and use it to finish the Ultimate Energy Engine. As a part of Dr. Eggman's plan, Zavok was instated as one of the racers Sonic and co. had to beat. Despite Zavok's best efforts though, he lost. Zavok later took part in the subsequent races with the heroes alongside Dr. Eggman until Dodon Pa finally finished the Ultimate Energy Engine, which Dr. Eggman then stole and incorporated into his Death Egg. Afterward, Zavok took part in the villains' last race against the heroes onboard the Final Fortress. In the end, Zavok and his team lost, and the Death Egg ended up driving into the Final Fortress's energy core, forcing Dr. Eggman and his lackeys to escape the Final Fortress as it began to crash.

Sonic Forces

SFE3TR30

In Sonic Forces, Zavok, alongside Chaos, Shadow and Metal Sonic, was Phantom Copied by Infinite, Dr. Eggman's newest servant, through the use of his Phantom Ruby. This Phantom Copy was instated in the Eggman Army as one of the group's foremost soldiers. Zavok's Phantom Copy self soon after made its debut alongside the other three Phantom Copies to assist Infinite in defeating Sonic. Afterward, Phantom Zavok helped Eggman conquer over 99% of Earth.

Six months later, Phantom Zavok went to the Death Egg where Sonic was being held prisoner in order to banish Sonic into space as Eggman wanted. However, thanks to the Resistance disrupting the power onboard the space station, Sonic's restraints were removed just as Phantom Zavok arrived, thus allowing him to fight the illusionary Zeti. Using the Death Queen, Phantom Zavok engaged Sonic, but was ultimately defeated and faded away upon his defeat, although not before expressing irritation at losing to Sonic again.

Hundreds of Zavok's Phantom Copies were later present in the outskirts of the Eggman Empire Fortress where they took part in the final battle between the Eggman Army and the Resistance until all their sources were neutralized, ending the Phantom Copies' existence once and for all.

Personality

Zavok is a merciless and cruel being.[8] He is very serious, ferocious,[9] brutal and dark, often deploying graphical threats of death and destruction, and he has little tolerance for failure. Power-hungry and ever focused on his goals, Zavok does not let anything stand in his way. Despite his intensiveness though, Zavok has occasionally displayed a sarcastically dry sense of humor, such as when he sarcastically complimented Dr. Eggman as a "mighty conqueror", and when he jokingly quoted Zor, when stating his opinion of Sonic advancing toward him, deeming Sonic's plan "pointless".

For all his brutish intensiveness, Zavok keeps a calm demeanor and has a penchant for quick-thinking which makes him well-suited to leadership.[3] Even as his temper flares up, he manages to keep his emotions in check. Zavok is likewise quite cunning and intelligent.[10][11][12] Always observant, he studies his opponents in advance and knows how to use a situation to his advantage. He knew he would learn more about Sonic by letting Zazz fight him, regardless of the outcome, and quickly formulated a plan to use Tails to his advantage when his team accidentally caught him instead of Sonic. He is also manipulative, tricking Zeena into fighting Sonic with praise and compliments, and sending Sonic into disarray with psychological taunts.

Zavok comes off as very prideful. He disdains the idea of being in servitude to another being which can aggravate him to the point where he will speak up despite the danger present to him. Zavok's pride transcends into arrogance, which is shown in his mockery at Dr. Eggman for attempting to enslave him and the Zeti and at Sonic challenging him. He also has a bit of an ego in that he thinks he is better than everybody else, calling himself "the one Zeti" Sonic could not defeat even after losing to the hedgehog beforehand. Regardless, he respects those that prove themselves worthy adversaries.

Like the other Deadly Six, Zavok is inherently malicious, sadistic and violent. He relishes in inflicting pain, torturing and killing others, telling Sonic how he would enjoy his screams and fear. He also finds joy in tormenting others psychologically, gleefully taunting Sonic with the losses of his friends. An homicidal monster, he has no qualms about causing global genocide for his own gain or personal reasons, as he was perfectly content with destroying the world for the benefits of his team. Likewise, Zavok is very vengeful and will seize any opportunity for retribution; once Dr. Eggman had no means of controlling him, Zavok quickly sought to make him pay for his abuse, going as far to destroy his world to spite him, and plotted to turn Tails against Sonic after being humiliated by Sonic.

In the IDW Comics, Zavok acts similar to how he does in the games. He is a power-hungry and aspiring conqueror with a strong mind and will, caring only for power and his pack.[13] Although he is no stranger to doubt and thoughts about surrender, he nonetheless possesses an iron-clad resolve and an absolute refusal to give up.[14] Combined with his refusal to surrender to his foes, Zavok does not give up, even in situations when he has already lost, being willing to fight back with any remnants of his strength combined with his ferocity and hatred.[15][14] He likewise refuses to let any setbacks impede him; to him, defeat is only a foundation for revenge.[15] While some might perceive him as a brute and wannabe world conqueror, Zavok has a penchant for quick thinking and is quite cunning, quick.-thinking and intelligent. Always observant, he is a tactical thinker and knows how to read his opponents in advance in order to use their weaknesses and a situation to his advantage.[16][17]

Being a trained warrior himself, Zavok has great faith in the capabilities of warriors in general. While he accepts that robotic slaves are tireless, loyal, and efficient tools, he believes the flexibility, passion, and ingenuity of a warrior allow them to do all that a robot can do and more.[18] Zavok is similarly a proud Zeti, standing firmly by the principles of his species. As such, he strives to cause chaos and destruction wherever he goes and despises acts of compassion, the latter which he sees as an insult to the Zeti way.[15] Zavok also believes that all other species are inferior to Zeti.[17] Additionally, he is willing to respect anyone, even enemies, who refuse to abandon their principles out of fear of "what-if" scenarios.[19]

Despite his malice, Zavok has a calm demeanor with little tolerance for wasting time. He despises anyone who poses a threat to him and his pack, and sees himself as a figure above all others.[20] Zavok is also a very vengeful person and has no qualms with enslaving or destroying an entire world just to take revenge on someone that wronged him, as evidenced when he and the other members of the Deadly Six tried to use the Metal Virus to turn every individual on Earth into Zombots out of their respective hatred for Dr. Eggman and Sonic.[21][22] However, he can still be somewhat shortsighted due to his desires for exacting personal revenge, which makes him prone to act and plan predictably.[15]

Powers and abilities

Zavok is regarded as the strongest warrior of the Zeti race.[3][4] He possesses high fighting skills as well[12] and his tutelage under Master Zik has made him a certified force to be reckoned with.[3] His power is so great that it is recognized by everyone, including his master.[5] He excels in close combat, using combos of punches where he can surround his fists with red energy for more powerful strikes and using guards to protect himself. As another testament to his strength, Zavok has never needed to use his full power before his final battle with Sonic on the Lost Hex.

Zavok is noted to possess formidable physical prowess.[3] He is capable of superhuman feats of strength, enough to punch over meter, thick, robot parts off their joints with a single strike. He also has incredible jumping skill, allowing him to leap high into the air and across very large distances in an instant. To match his strength, Zavok has a large amount of endurance and durability, enough to let him withstand Sonic's regular Homing Attack and continue fighting indefinitely. He is also able to move at speeds matching Sonic's as small dashes. Besides physical skills, Zavok is capable of flight. He also possesses a degree of pyrokinetic abilities that let him fire large fireballs from the palm of his hands.

As a Zeti, Zavok possesses the innate ability to manipulate magnetic fields, which enables him to control electronics. This allows Zavok to take control of robots and other kinds of machinery.

As seen during Dodon Pa's Grand Prix, Zavok also has excellent skills when it comes to driving and racing in racecars like the Road Dragoon.

Zavok is described as the mightiest on the Lost Hex.[15] He possesses great strength, enough to crush a Wispon with his bare hands and block Sonic's Spin Attack barehanded.[15][23] In addition, he has superb fighting skills.[23] He also possesses impressive durability, able to survive the Faceship crashing down into the ocean with him inside with seemingly no injuries and recover moderately well from a beating from Super Sonic.[13][24][14] He is also a notably fast healer, even after very exhausting fights. especially when he has the proper support.[15] Despite his hefty build, he is able to maintain a sheer amount of stealth when he wants to as well.[25]

Like all Zeti, Zavok has the ability to manipulate magnetic fields, which he can use to control machinery with his mind.[21]

Equipment

When Zavok had a Chaos Emerald lodged to his torso via a Chaos Emerald Siphon, it exaggerated his natural abilities and granted him immunity to the Metal Virus.[22][13] While allied with Dr. Starline, Zavok also received a Core Gear that allowed him to harness Power Cores' energy automatically.[25] However, it was later destroyed.[26]

Transformations

Giant Zavok

Main article: Giant Zavok
Full Power Zavok

With the use of a secret formula or if he is charged up on Chaos Energy, Zavok can transform into Giant Zavok, immensely increasing his own size.[2] While in this state, Zavok's strength, mass, and durability are increased to the point where he can effortlessly barge through anything and withstand several explosions before going down. He can also shoot either an intense laser or immense fireballs from his mouth. Zavok refers to this state as his "full strength".

Weaknesses

Like all other Zeti, Zavok's powers are greatly inhibited when the Cacophonic Conch is blown, which causes him great pain.

His electromagnetic capabilities are as well hindered by EM shielding.[18]

Relationships

Deadly Six

Deadly Six Pose

As the leader of the Deadly Six, Zavok is very loyal to his fellow Zeti, who in turn have a lot of respect for him.[5] He seemingly holds them in high esteem, referring to them as "brothers" and had every intention of sharing the energy the Extractor harvested with them. Amongst the Deadly Six, Zavok has taken a liking to Zazz due to his readiness to fight anything. He also holds a great amount of respect for his teacher Master Zik. When Master Zik wanted to take care of Sonic, Zavok did not want him to bother himself with it as it was beneath him, and when he gave him the idea of turning Sonic into a robot, Zavok respectfully thanked him for the plan.

Regardless of his respect for his team members (excluding Master Zik), Zavok is still a strict leader. He is not above using his team as a means to his own end, like letting Zazz fruitlessly fight Sonic so he could learn more about his enemy or tricking Zeena to go out on a mission, and he will lash out at them when they fail to carry out his orders. He also does not always get along with their quirks, such as Zeena's lack of initiative and arrogance. Also, as implied by Zazz, Zavok will go to the extent of physically punishing his team should they fail him.[27]

Being the group's strongest member and their undisputed leader, Zavok is no stranger to be slightly abusive towards members of the group when they act out of line and is willing to snap at them. As such, he can easily silence them when they speak up against him.[28][29][30][31][32] However, Zavok is also the unifier and driving force of their pack, urging each member to follow the way of the Zeti by reminding them of their species' pride and principles, namely in regards to not letting others push them around, taking what they want and getting even with their foes in the most brutal and vicious way possible in order to make sure that they are always at the top of the hierarchy. As such, despite the oddities displayed by some of the Deadly Six and how they sometimes disappoint him with their incompetence, Zavok is willing to encourage their malicious traits as they are the qualities of his pack that drives them down the path of the Zeti. Such was the case when he freed Zomom from captivity in Vista View; although he was disappointed in him, he nonetheless freed Zomom and encouraged the gluttonous Zeti to "consume all" in order to get even with his foes.[33] Also, despite their defeats, Zavok believes that they have gone further in their conquests than any other Zeti, and that their revenge on Sonic's world will one day be fulfilled.[34]

Dr. Eggman

Zavok disapproves

Watch your tongue, Eggman, or you'll lose it. Zavok is mighty!

— Zavok, Team Sonic Racing

Due to him enslaving and humiliating him, Zavok holds nothing but spite for Dr. Eggman. Even while under the threat of being exposed to the Cacophonic Conch, Zavok spoke up against Dr. Eggman and expressed his contempt at him when Dr. Eggman criticized them. He also does not think highly of Dr. Eggman and considers him a fool. Regardless, he does respect Dr. Eggman's technological prowess. Once Sonic accidentally freed Zavok from Dr. Eggman's control, Zavok quickly seized the opportunity to take revenge on Dr. Eggman by attack him with everything at his disposal and had every intention of making Dr. Eggman suffer and eventually claim his life. Also, when Zavok set the Extractor to destroy the earth, one of his reasons for doing this was to kill Dr. Eggman as revenge.

Despite his past with Dr. Eggman however, Zavok willingly let himself work for him during Dodon Pa's Grand Prix. However, he was still as hostile towards Dr. Eggman as ever, warning him against taking him lightly or criticizing his skills.

After they were liberated, they decided to take revenge on Dr. Eggman and destroy the world he came from.[35][36] Zavok also does not intend to become Dr. Eggman's slave anytime soon and is ready to fight him to the death.[35] He also does not understand Dr. Eggman's dependence on machines, as he considers them inferior to well-trained warriors.[37] He also hates Dr. Eggman's wasteful ways, like when he was ready to destroy one of his vital bases, if only to get rid of Zavok once and for all.[38]

Sonic the Hedgehog

Tenacious little hedgehog. I'd respect you if I didn't hate you so much.

— Zavok, Sonic Lost World

When Zavok first heard of Sonic from Dr. Eggman, he was intrigued by Sonic and desired to learn more. When Sonic set out to stop them once they broke free, Zavok thought of him as no more than a nuisance destined to fail. As Sonic continuously defeated the Deadly Six, however, Zavok began to see Sonic more like a legitimate threat and acknowledged his strength and tenacity. Zavok himself admitted that if Sonic did not try his patience, he would respect him. When Master Zik later brought it up, Zavok gained an interest in turning Sonic into a robot.

After the other Deadly Six had been defeated, Zavok decided to take care of Sonic personally, but was too dealt humiliating defeats. Infuriated by Sonic, Zavok decided to take revenge on him by turning his best friend into a robot to use against him.

Although technically not the real Zavok, his Phantom Copy had the same personality traits relating to Sonic as the original, as shown by their interaction before and during the battle, and also implied upon his defeat that the Phantom Copy at least retained enough of the original's memories up to his defeat that it expressed irritation at losing to him again.

Despite Sonic having restored their freedom however, Zavok hates him immensely after he humiliated them by defeating them in battle.[39][40] Zavok thus swore to destroy the world which Sonic and Dr. Eggman have fought over for so long. Once he has successfully done so, Zavok intends to then give Sonic a slow and painful demise.[41]

Dr. Starline

It's over, doctor. Even before today, you were always a failure. You're not fit to be Eggman's successor. Your planning was sloppy. Your discarding of your comrades, needlessly cruel. All of it compounded by your unearned sense of pride. On second thought, all that makes you exactly like Eggman.

— Zavok, Sonic the Hedgehog: Bad Guys #4

Zavok has considered Dr. Starline a fool from the beginning and planned to use his naiveté to destroy both Sonic and Dr. Eggman.[16][20] When Starline later offered to to let him cooperate with him again, Zavok was not unconvinced by Starline's intentions. When Starline offered to help him conquer a part of the Eggman Empire however, Zavok agreed to cooperate with him, surprised that Starline wanted to make him his leader and serve him. In reality, however, Zavok knew Starline was up to something, which he intended to use to his advantage and make him pay for this. As such, he found Starline to be as shortsighted and weak as Dr. Eggman.[17]

During their team-up, Zavok and Starline behaved appropriately and professionally towards each other. Zavok also shared his thoughts on machines with Starline and quickly noticed his wish to return to Dr. Eggman's side after he fired him. However, Zavok claimed that Starline had great potential and his previous plan was quite solid even if overlooking a major flaw. He also persuaded Starline to try to surpass Dr. Eggman instead of just being like him. Zavok soon after confirmed Starline's lies for himself, but intended to keep him alive until he had handed over a part of the Eggman Empire to him.[18][25]

When Starline had outlived his usefulness, Zavok decided to annihilate him. As he attempted to do so, he commented that Starline was identical to Dr. Eggman: too short-sighted and unnecessarily cruel in getting rid of his own team.

Mimic the Octopus

A former teammate of his, Zavok managed to convince Mimic the Octopus to leave Starline alive until he had fulfilled the deals he had promised them.[18] Out of all of the team, Zavok seemed to respect Mimic the most for his skills. WWhen Mimic abandoned their team however, Zavok admitted that he should have expected his betrayal and not entrusted him with important tasks.

Rough the Skunk and Tumble the Skunk

While annoyed with them, Zavok believed that Rough the Skunk and Tumble the Skunk were quite good fighters for someone who were not of Zeti descent.[17][18] He quickly abandoned them, however, when they failed him during their fight with Starline and were left paralyzed by Starline's neurotoxin.

Zavok personally helped Sigma with his plan, only to betray him when he and the Deadly Six received power-enhancing armor from him. Zavok's attempts to control Sigma however, proved in vain as the robot took control of Zavok's mind using a device hidden in his armor and had him serve as one of his commanders until the unified heroes freed him. The Deadly Six's involvement would later be erased when Xander Payne erased all the events of Worlds Unite.

In the not-so-distant future, Zavok would meet Dr. Eggman again on the Lost Hex, only to be enslaved by the doctor once more.

Trivia

  • Zavok's name may be based on the word "havoc", fitting his role as a world-destroying villain.
  • Zavok's final battle is similar to the fight with Bowser in New Super Mario Bros. Wii and New Super Mario Bros. 2. In addition, the way he is defeated is done in a similar way to Bowser's battles in Super Mario Galaxy 2. Also, both Zavok and Bowser shoot fireballs and both fall into the lava when defeated.
    • Zavok and Bowser's physical appearances are also similar too, as they both have spiked wrist bands and hair tufts hanging backwards from their heads, and feet with claws.
    • The similarities are noted in the intro to Mario & Sonic at the Rio 2016 Olympic Games, where the two are shown facing each other in a boxing match.
  • Zavok is the only member of the Deadly Six (and the only boss other than Dr. Eggman) to have his own theme for boss fights. That being said, Zavok's battle theme also plays during Master Zik's rematch in the Nintendo 3DS version of the game, as both of them are fought in the same Zone.
  • Initially, Zavok was given the subtitle "Master of Chaos",[42] but it was later changed to "King of Chaos."[1]
  • In the Wii U/PC version of Sonic Lost World, Zavok is the only one of the Deadly Six who can withstand Sonic's Focused Homing Attack.
  • Zavok and Zeena are the only Deadly Six members whose names are never mentioned in Sonic Lost World. Zavok’s name however is mentioned in both Sonic Forces and Team Sonic Racing, making Zeena the only member of the Deadly Six whose name has never been mentioned at all.
  • Zavok is wrongly described as the "former leader of the Deadly Six" in the English instruction manual for Team Sonic Racing, despite the Japanese manual and the IDW Publishing comics depicting him as still being in charge of them.[43]
  • Zavok is the third most recurring villain in the Sonic the Hedgehog series, right behind Dr. Eggman and Metal Sonic.
  • Zavok and Zazz were the only members of the Deadly Six to not be infected by the Metal Virus.
