Bael

“Giant poison spiders. They roam the mountains, attacking with deadly venom.”
—In-game description from The Sacred Stones.

The Bael is an enemy-only Monster class that is exclusive to Fire Emblem: The Sacred Stones. A breed of gargantuan spiders that is enlarged through the interference of fell magic, Baels employ their pincers and claws to inflict damage on their foes.

The promoted variant of the Bael is the Elder Bael.

Profile

Baels are first seen in Chapter 6, where the boss of the chapter, Novala, holds Renais citizens hostage in order to force Eirika to give up her Bracelet. He mentions that there are "giant spiders" that prey on humans lurking in the area. These spiders turn out to be a group of Baels that emerge and attempt to kill the hostages if the player does not intervene.

Overview

Combat

Baels are comparable to Brigands both in terms of mobility and combat. They have high Strength and have the ability to cross mountains, but their low Skill and Speed make their attacks rather inaccurate. However, their claws tend to have noticeably higher Might compared to the weaponry of most other Monsters like Bonewalkers and Revenants, a fact that renders their attacks to be more threatening when they successfully strike. Like all other Monster classes, Baels are vulnerable to the Bishop's Slayer skill and the Sacred Twin weapons.
