Alice is derived from Old High German Adalheidis, from adal, "noble" and heit, "kind, sort". It is also the name of the titular character from Lewis Carroll's Alice's Adventures in Wonderland. The two Alices are similar in appearance and personality, both being upper-class children with the same hairstyle whose compassion and girlishness lend them strength.
