The Brawler is a class that has been introduced in Fire Emblem: Three Houses. It is an intermediate class and requires a male unit with a sufficient Brawl level to pass the Certification Exam. It is a physical combat class that specializes in close quarters combat and has proficiency in Brawling and Axes.
Overview
Brawlers tend to have high HP and modest Dexterity and Speed growth. They are usually not as strong and defensive as Mercenaries, Brigands and Armored Knights but are offset by their gauntlets, which are light and hit twice when initiating combat. Unlike other physical weapons, gauntlets are almost always locked to melee range (with the only ranged gauntlet attack being the Pneuma Gale combat art), but this is partially offset by Brawlers being largely unimpeded by terrain in a similar fashion to Thieves. A major weakness of Brawlers is their poor Resistance, which makes them vulnerable to magic attacks (doubly so since mages can outrange them).
In Fire Emblem Warriors: Three Hopes, the Brawler acts as a promotion for the Fighter, and is accessible to all male units who mastered that class. They exclusively wield gauntlets, which has Weapon Triangle advantages over tome-wielding classes such as the Mage, though their poor Resistance means magic attacks can make engagements risky. However, the class is disadvantaged against bow-wielding classes like Archers, which deal more damage to them.
