“ | Such vexing arrogance for one so small. Perhaps you truly are one of their descendants. In any event, you labored to destroy my vessel, did you not? That is a deed most foul... One you will pay for with your LIFE! You cannot hope to win so bound in flesh. Pitiful. | „ |
~ Sothis, possessing Byleth, attempting to kill Shez. |
Sothis, also known as the Progenitor God, or the Beginning, is the overarching protagonist within the Fódlan Saga of Nintendo's Fire Emblem franchise.
She is the overarching protagonist of the 2019 tactical video game Fire Emblem: Three Houses and a major character in its 2022 spin-off sequel Fire Emblem Warriors: Three Hopes.
She is a mysterious and amnesiac girl that only Byleth can see, possessing supernatural abilities, such as the ability to freeze and reverse time and even possess a major crest, known as the Crest of Flames. Sothis is later revealed to be the Goddess of Fódlan and is the mother of Saint Seiros, better known as Rhea. Near the end of the Academy Phase, she fuses with Byleth to defeat their enemies.
She is voiced by Tomoyo Kurosawa in the Japanese version, and by Cassandra Lee Morris in the English version, the latter who also voices Morgana in Persona 5, Rachel in Glitter Force Doki Doki, and Suguha Kiriygaya/Leafa in Sword Art Online.
Appearance
Sothis is a young girl with beautiful, long, green hair and eyes, wears red earrings, and wears a purple dress with gold details. She also yields a sword on her hand, and wears golden feetless shoes with a purple jewel on each side.
Personality
Sothis is very caring and supportive to Byleth, and the rest of her family. She is also courageous and saves Fódian with Byleth. Sothis is also charming and can fuse with Byleth near the end of Fire Emblem: Three Houses. Sothis is sometimes snarky.
Biography
Long ago. Sothis descended in Fodlan and from her blood, she created the Nabateans who were known as the Children of the Goddess. She shared knowledge to the people of the land and helped builded a prosperous kingdom called Agartha. They co-existed with the Nabateans. Eventually the Agarthans became greedy and arrogant and turned their backs on the Goddess' teachings. They engaged in pointless wars and declared themselves gods. They tried to kill Sothis but she destroyed their kingdom for their hubris. Fodlan was devastated. The goddess expended all of her power to restore the land and fell in a deep sleep in the Holy Tomb. The surviving Agarthans hid underground and became Those Who Slither in the Dark. They manipulated a bandit named Nemesis to breaching the tomb and kill Sothis in her sleep. Those Who Slither in the Dark made the Sword of the Creator from Sothis' bones and gave it to Nemesis. During the War of Heroes, Seiros, Sothis' daughter, killed Nemesis and claims the Sword and its Crest Stone. She founded the Church of Seiros and created vessels to revive her mother but all attempts failed except Sitri. Sitri asked Rhea to place the Crest Stone to her child Byleth. She did and Byleth survives but didn't have a heartbeat. Years later, Sothis visited Byleth in a dream.
After Byleth is sent to Zahras by Solon, Sothis merges with Byleth in order to escape, sacrificing her indivduality. In the beginning of Part II, Sothis tells Byleth to wake up as there is a war going on, and that they are the only one to stop it.
In the ending, it is possible to marry Sothis and gain S support with her in all routes by completing a certain condition.
