Chao is a character making her debut as the female protagonist of the Japanese game Famicom Fairy Tales: Yuyuki. She is Goku's best friend as well as his caretaker.
Personality
While little is known about her personality, Chao is known to like romance stories. She is also grateful to her saviors, as seen when Kirby saves her from a bag she gets trapped inside in Kirby's Dream Land 2.
Physical Appearance
Chao is rather small, possibly due to her young age. She wears a red robe lined with yellow. Her hair is black and held in ponytails. In her Yuyuki artwork, her pants are white. Their color changes to red in her appearance in the Kirby's Dream Land 3 manga, but she does not have any pants in her appearance in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate as part of the Chao & Goku Spirit.
Biography
Chao makes her debut in the Japanese-only game Famicom Fairy Tales: Yuyuki. She first appears when Goku emerges from a meteor. She takes note of his situation and takes him in, caring for him. However, Goku is lead away by Oshakasama and imprisoned for his crimes, and Chao decides to go out of her way to save him.
Eventually, a daemon named Gyumaou rises to place the world under his control. Goku is then released to save the world, and Chao, his best friend, joins him.
Other Media
Kirby's Dream Land 2
Chao makes her Kirby debut in the game Kirby's Dream Land 2, albeit only in the Japanese version. She is trapped in a bag and must be freed. When freed, Chao gives the person who freed her an extra life. In the Americas, she does not appear. Instead, a gender swap (or sister) of Gooey appears.
Kirby's Dream Land 3
Chao later appears in all versions of Kirby's Dream Land 3, alongside her friend Goku. Their stage is the fourth stage of World 1: Grass Land. Here, Goku gets lost on his way through the caves, and Chao is waiting, waiting until she is reunited with him. If Kirby does all this, he gains a Heart Star.
Super Smash Bros. Ultimate
Chao and Goku appear as a Novice spirit that can be fought. In their spirit battle, Chao is represented by the blue female Villager and Goku is represented by Diddy Kong. In battle, Golden Hammers are more common.
Trivia
- Like Hikari and Donbe, she and Goku retain their 8-bit design in Kirby's Dream Land 3.
