Goro Akechi, also known as Crow, is the secondary antagonist and one of the party members in the Persona 5 sub-series within the Persona series.
He is a third-year student who attends an unknown high school. He is a famous celebrity detective who is investigating the Phantom Thieves of Hearts, before eventually teaming up with them. However, he is actually a mole working for his father, Masayoshi Shido, whom he plots to exact revenge on for ruining his life. His initial Persona was Robin Hood before it was revealed that he had a second Persona, Loki.
He is also the arch-rival and foil of Ren Amamiya, aka Joker, as well as his close friend since Ren was one of the few to show him complete sympathy and have some similarities with each other.
He is voiced by Sōichirō Hoshi in Japanese, and by Robbie Daymond in English, who also voiced Prince Leo in Barbie: Starlight Adventure and Megumi Fushiguro in Jujutsu Kaisen.
Personality
Akechi is a high school student who conducts a detective business. His abilities as a detective have been widely acclaimed, since he not only has solved numerous cases, but is also able to deal with people from the investigation agency smoothly. His handsome features draw him public attention, and people comment on him as “The Second Advent of the Detective Prince.”
Behind his popularity, he is quite lonely and yearns to be loved. He was abandoned by his father, subsequently lost his mother to suicide, and never had close friends. He was passed around the foster care system as an orphan and has developed a far more jaded worldview than he initially lets on, even calling himself an unwanted child.
He has a desperate desire to be acknowledged, which he is forthright about being the primary drive for his actions as a detective. He also has a narcissistic element to his personality, wishing for others to see him as a hero and those who oppose him as the villains.
Despite his narcissist and ruthless nature, Akechi proves that he isn't completely bad. Akechi truly loved his late mother, and her death was part of the reason why he wanted to kill Shido, as he wanted to avenge her. Despite seemingly having little care for the Phantom Thieves, he genuinely enjoyed spending his time with them, particularly with Ren, even wishing that the two could've met in the past. After "killing" Ren, he even went out of his way to convince Shido to spare the rest of the Phantom Thieves, showing that he truly did have some sort of attachment towards them.
