Jeralt Eisner

Jeralt Eisner, revered as the Blade Breaker, is the overarching protagonist of Fire Emblem: Three Houses, a supporting character in Three Hopes, and the narrator of both games. He is the husband of the late Sitri Eisner and father of Byleth, and a former member of the Knights of Seiros, widely regarded as the most powerful knight in the church's history. After leaving Garreg Mach, he formed his own mercenary company Jeralt's Mercenaries, gaining equally fearsome reputation there as well. As the events of the Fódlan Saga unfold, Jeralt is brought back to the monastery, where his child's future will change the fate of the land forever.

He is voiced by David Lodge.

Personality

Jeralt is a simple and honorable man. He merely wishes to live his life unbothered by the powers that be in Fódlan, having no interest in the growing turmoil and tries to protect and keep his child away from such things. That said, once he takes a job, he will carry it out to the best of his ability, even if his employer are the very kinds of people he tends to dislike. He is also a highly virtuous and benevolent man who despises those who harm the innocent and will defend them without hesitation. In Hopes he is more flexible with his ideals, seen when he remains with the Adrestian Empire even after they're well into their atrocities due to being ruled by Thales, showing that he will honor is word no matter what.

Despite being a man of relatively few words and his gruff demeanor and even appearance, he can be very sociable and outgoing, and always enjoys having a good time drinking with his men and friends. He also has a fondness for fishing. Despite his overwhelming physical might, he is also a tactical genius and an impeccable leader, always looking after those under his command and knowing when to retreat when a situation has become unsalvageable. He also loves Byleth and his late wife dearly and went through a great deal of trouble in protecting them from danger.

Trivia

Carrying the Crest of Seiros, received by Rhea herself, Jeralt is potentially biologically immortal and will never age passed his prime, as he is well over 300 years old.
Jeralt's death in Three Houses is considered fate, as Byleth is unable to prevent it no matter how much he tries to rewind time.
Alois was Jeralt's squire in his youth, something that Leonie also eventually became.
When he was younger he was a knight of the Kingdom of Faerghus.
