The Place Komugi Calls Home (こむぎの帰る場所 Komugi no Kaeru Basho)? is the 38th episode of Wonderful Pretty Cure! and is the 1006th episode of the Pretty Cure franchise overall.
Summary
Komugi is playing in the dog run when a volunteer sees her and calls her "Marron". Iroha decides to meet with Komugi's previous family that she lived with until two years ago.

Synopsis
At Iroha's house, Iroha pets and Komugi and plays fetch with her. Niko and Satoru compliment how relaxed Komugi is with Iroha since she knows her very well. Then, a woman drives up and overhears Komugi playing. She gets closer and Komugi suddenly reminds her of a dog named "Marron". Iroha goes check on what's going on and the woman explains that Komugi looks exactly like Marron, who disappeared a couple years ago, and Iroha remembers that Komugi was a stray dog. She then asks the woman if she's a member of Komugi's previous family.
A short time later, the woman, Yuuki Ayako, explains that she's a volunteer at a shelter where they take in pets whose owners can't take care of them anymore. Two years before, Komugi's original owner was put in a nursing home and he asked them to take care of Komugi, who was named Marron at the time. However, she escaped the day she was brought in and they never found her. While Iroha's family has always been concerned about Komugi's old family, Iroha starts becoming worried and asks Ayako for a favor.
While Iroha talks to Ayako, Komugi joins the others and says she doesn't remember anything from her previous family. Satoru hopes that Iroha will be okay because of the chance that Komugi's old family might want to have her back. Iroha then reunites with everyone and Komugi asks if they can play again, but Iroha says they'll do so after they pay a visit to her old family. Mayu mentions the prospect of Komugi staying with her old family, which makes Komugi hope she and Iroha can remain together forever. Holding back tears, Iroha tells Komugi not to worry, but she senses doubt in Iroha's voice.
The next day, everyone arrives at the healthcare facility, and neither Komugi nor Iroha slept well the night before. Satoru tells Iroha to take some deep breaths when he notices how nervous she is, and she goes to enter the building with him and Mayu following her while Komugi waits. Yuki notices that Komugi isn't acting like her usual self and assures her that she and Iroha have a strong bond that can't be easily broken, which cheers Komugi up.
The group then go to the courtyard and find Komugi's former owner, an old wheelchair-bound man named Kurihara. Iroha introduces herself and attempts to show Komugi to him, but she avoids looking at him at first. Kurihara recognizes the heart-shaped patch and comments on how much Marron has grown. He also explains how crushed he felt when he learned Marron went missing and even regretted moving in to the facility once he found that out. Iroha allows Kurihara to pet Komugi/Marron and she starts remembering his warm and gentle feelings, but now she feels conflicted. Meanwhile, a bored Torame walks around the mountains and encounters a stoat, which he decides to play tag with despite the stoat not liking his company.
Kurihara continues massaging Komugi/Marron and he explains to Iroha how she used to be sick often and wouldn't eat a lot and also acted shy towards those around her. Iroha then explains how Komugi now eats a lot and is more outgoing. Kurihara didn't know Komugi/Marron changed as much as she did and thanks Iroha for putting in so much love and care for her. She then tells Kurihara the reason she came, that she and her mother promised to find Komugi's owner and return her to them as soon as they can, which Komugi didn't know about. Now, Iroha has grown really attached to Komugi through it all and she doesn't want to give her away. The two of them start to cry as Iroha asks Kurihara if she can keep Komugi.
Meanwhile, Torame continues chasing after the stoat until he loses it. He then notices the Cures and corrupts another egg to hatch into a stoat Gaogaon. Once they sense it, the Cures leave to search for it while Satoru tries to get Kurihara out of harm's way. Once the Cures transform, the Gaogaon jumps out of the bushes and at Torame's command, it starts running swiftly around the Cures. Torame explains how surprisingly fierce stoats are, and it starts running even faster to the point where there are multiple copies of it. The Gaogaon then attacks Nyammy and Lillian before setting its sights on Wonderful, but Friendy summons a Ribbon Barrier to protect her.
As Friendy struggles, Wonderful remembers Iroha saying how she wanted to be with her forever and she feels the same way too. She then summons a Puni Puni Barrier to push the Gaogaon back and she and Friendy embrace. Then, the Gaogaon starts surrounding the Cures again and they don't know which one's the real one. Then, Wonderful gets the idea of calling upon the Kirarin Rabbit to allow her to hear the Gaogaon's steps and determine where the real one is. She continues doing this until the rest of the Cures surround it so it won't escape. They they use Eternal Kizuna Shower to purify it back into a Niko Stoat, which Wonderful and Friendy send back to Niko Garden. Torame's upset that he lost again and promises to keep attacking the Cures until he wins 10 times before retreating.
The group rejoins Kurihara and Komugi runs up to him and embraces him, much to Iroha's surprise. Komugi remembers how warm she felt whenever he would hug and pet her, and she also tells him that she got the word "wonderful" from Iroha. She loves both Iroha and Kurihara and she loves living a world where everything is "wonderful". Iroha then reminds Komugi's she still in human form and now she doesn't know what to do. Then, Kurihara tells Iroha to keep taking care of Komugi and that they are "super wonderful" together. The two smile at each other, glad that they can still be together. Unbeknownst to them, Niko, who has taken on a different form, watches them and smiles.
