Synopsis

One day, Mashiro is working on her picture book about a leaf who was blown off of a tree when she can't figure out a way to continue the story. Meanwhile, Monda looks at a leaf on the ground and thinks about how Mashiro said she liked fallen leaves again. During breakfast, Mashiro is deep in thought and the others acknowledge how hard she's been working lately she's become. They remind her that she can't forget to enter the contest, and she agrees.

Mashiro sits on a swing at the park to continue working while Monda walks around thinking about what Skearhead said to him before. He also thinks about how close he's gotten to Mashiro when she approaches him. She asks him to read what she has written so far because it's based on the conversation they had. Monda finishes reading it and Mashiro explains her difficulty with coming up with a happy ending for the leaf.

Monda looks at the empty pages and becomes angry. He thinks something as useless as leaf could never have a happy ending and tears a page in half. Mashiro could only watch in shock as Monda rips out the rest of her notebook and stomps on it, saying her words are empty and it's her fault that he still can't return to the Undergu Empire. Upon hearing that, Mashiro figures out that Monda is actually Battamonda. He then steals her Mirage Pen and drops his human disguise, threatening to break the pen if she calls upon her friends. It begins to rain and Battamonda is glad that he's shattered Mashiro's heart, but she's content after finding out about his lies and even promises to help protect him from Skearhead's threats. However, he thinks that she's lying and she would never understand how useless he feels before retreating.

Sora goes to find Mashiro to give her an umbrella and sees her picking up the torn remnants of her ruined notebook. She tries to check on her, and Mashiro starts to cry, so Sora holds her while she weeps. Meanwhile, Battamonda runs into an alleyway when Skearhead suddenly takes the Mirage Pen from him. He then gives Battamonda one more chance to prove his worth by giving him an orb of Undergu Energy. If Battamonda were to absorb it, he would gain immense strength. Battamonda is reluctant to ingest it at first because the energy would destroy his soul and turn him into a mindless monster. Skearhead gives Battamonda an ultimatum: consume the energy or die.

Back at her house, Mashiro blames herself for what happened, but the others still believe it's Battamonda's fault for leading her on. Despite that, Mashiro can't seem to be angry at him. Knowing how the Undergu Empire values the strong over the weak, it reminds Mashiro of when she felt like she wasn't good enough at anything. However, thanks to her friends, she realized she was fine the way she is. Sora figures out the little leaf in the story is based off of Mashiro, and that she's writing it to cheer up anyone who feels defeated, including herself. Mashiro then decides to go talk to Battamonda before getting her Mirage Pen back.

The next morning, the Cures confront Battamonda, but he doesn't want to talk and instead plans on defeating the Cures to prove himself. He holds the orb of Undergu Energy, which the Cures recognize as the same power they used on Minoton. Skearhead arrives and taunts Battamonda for his hesitation, and he goes ahead and ingests the energy. The Cures watch in horror as Battamonda is turned into a mindless monster. Skearhead says that even someone as worthless as him can become powerful. Mashiro is enraged at Skearhead for saying the weak are worthless, and her own worth is hers to decide. Inspired by Mashiro's words, Battamonda regains his composure for long enough to take back her Mirage Pen. Just as he gives it back to her, the Undergu Energy drowns him, making him even stronger. Determined to save him, Mashiro and the other Cures transform.

Butterfly gives everyone a power boost and they start their clash against Battamonda. However, even with their strength increased, Battamonda still defeats the Cures easily. Skearhead orders Battamonda to finish the Cures off, but Prism, undeterred by Skearhead's evaluations, won't give up until Battamonda is saved. Suddenly, his heart glows green and he tries to fight it, but Prism summons a more powerful version of Prism Shot to help him. The new attack, Prism Shine, causes light to shine on Battamonda inside, freeing him from the Undergu Energy's influence. With him incapacitated, the Cures purify him with Majestic Halation, and Skearhead retreats quietly.

Now that he's changed his way, Battamonda never thought the Cures would actually save him and thanks them all, especially Mashiro. He apologizes to her for ripping up her notebook before leaving, as Mashiro is glad that he believes in his light now. Later, Mashiro is able to complete her story and it wins the grand prize at the picture book contest. Using what Mashiro knows now, the leaf learns they can decide what the best part of them would be.
