Mayu's Anxious New Semester (まゆのドキドキ新学期 Mayu no Dokidoki Shingakki)? is the 8th episode of Wonderful Pretty Cure! and is the 976th episode of the Pretty Cure franchise overall.
Summary
It's Mayu's first day at her new school, and she's in Iroha's class. Meanwhile, Komugi tries to go meet Iroha at school, but she gets distracted and winds up at Pretty Holic.

Synopsis
On the first day at her new school, Mayu practices her introduction and tries figuring out how to approach it. However, she's afraid that she'll mess up and everyone will hate her. She then asks Yuki to help her out before cuddling her to help her relax. After thanking Yuki, Mayu promises she will do her best.
Meanwhile, Iroha hurries off to school so she won't be late and Komugi follows her. Iroha tries telling her she has to stay home, but Komugi still begs her to take her along. Iroha tries to explain there are certain procedures to enrolling at a school, but still Komugi won't relent. Iroha is left with no choice but to pet Komugi to the point in which she falls asleep, allowing her to make a quick getaway. By the time Komugi wakes up, Iroha had already left.
Iroha arrives at school and greets some of her classmates when she notices that Satoru is in her class too and is happy that her wish for them to have the same class came true. During their conversation, Satoru starts feeling flustered around Iroha. As class starts, Mayu waits outside the classroom rehearsing her introduction. When the teacher, Kiyoshi, announces that there's a transfer student, Mayu enters and starts becoming incredibly nervous upon looking at her new classmates.
Mayu stops in front of the blackboard and introduces herself, but she says her last name wrong by mixing up hers and the teacher's. She starts to panic and thinks she's done for because of the mistake, but Iroha helps her out by correcting her name and mentioning Yuki. This gets the class interested in Yuki, so Mayu starts to gush over her by mentioning her likes and dislikes. She soon starts rambling on until she notices the class staring at her and she thinks she's made another mistake. However, Iroha can tell how much Mayu likes Yuki, and the rest of the class wants to meet her, which relieves Mayu. Kiyoshi then assigns Mayu to sit next to Iroha and he also tells Iroha to show Mayu around the school.
Meanwhile, Komugi grows impatient while waiting for Iroha and transforms into her human form to head to school. When she gets lost, she starts the sniff out Iroha's scent, but this confuses the people around her. While Komugi eventually figures out which direction the school is, Mayu's classmates bombard her with questions that overwhelm her and leave her unable to get even a word in.
Komugi picks up Iroha's scent, but she soon becomes distracted by all of the scents throughout. After a while, she becomes tired and turns back in a dog, but she becomes lost. Then, she finds Pretty Holic and runs towards a sleeping Yuki once she arrives. Komugi tries to get Yuki to play tag with her, but Yuki clearly doesn't want to and tries to walk away. Still wanting to play, Komugi jumps on to Yuki and the cat tries to get her off. Yuki then tries to scare Komugi away, but she thinks it's a game and imitates her, resulting in the two getting into a shouting match.
Back at school, Iroha starts showing Mayu around and explains how the school and their classes got their names. After meeting up with her volleyball teammates, Iroha shows Mayu to the animal area, where both students and teachers help to take care of them. They soon meet up with Satoru, who is performing a health check on a turtle. He introduces himself to Mayu and asks if she could help feed the turtle, and she accepts. She gives the turtle a leaf to eat and starts enjoying herself. Meanwhile, a nearby Garugaru egg hatches. Iroha and Satoru prepare to leave when the animals react to the Garugaru's appearance. The two hurry out to see the horse Garugaru wrecking some parts of the animal area. Komugi also senses it and transforms into a human to go look for it, which shocks Yuki.
Satoru starts evacuating everyone at school while leaving the Garugaru to Iroha, but she can't do it alone. Then, Komugi arrives and is ready to transform, but Iroha pulls her behind a nearby bush so no one can see them. After transforming, the Cures challenge the Garugaru to a game of tag. However, they soon discover how fast it is and struggle desperately to stay ahead of it. Friendy jumps on the Garugaru's back and tries to calm it down, but it bucks her off. She then figures out that the Garugaru could be a horse because of its speed, and that they should look straight at it when talking to because of how timid they could be.
The Garugaru charges at another building, but the Cures still have a hard time keeping up with it, so Wonderful uses Help! Kirarin Animal! to call upon the Kirarin Lion. She is then given lion's feet, which allow her to move extremely quickly and disorient the Garugaru. Wonderful then stops in front of it and asks it to return to the Niko Garden. She and Friendy then purify it with Friend Liberale to turn it back into a Niko Horse and they send it back to the Niko Garden.
At the end of the day, Satoru thanks the Cures for rescuing the Garugaru while Komugi tells Iroha about how much she had while Iroha was at school, but she still wants to come with her. Meanwhile, Mayu tells Yuki about her day and how Iroha helped her out throughout it. Mayu was worried at first, but she has come to enjoy school. The two then watch the sunset while Mayu can't wait to go to school the next day.

- When asked, Mayu states she previously lived in Koizumi Gakuen, the city that Futari wa Pretty Cure and Futari wa Pretty Cure Max Heart take place in.
