Synopsis

Elda is building a castle of toy bricks when Butler interrupts and threatens to kick her out of the mansion unless she returns with Motivation Power. Elda leaves, and insists she will never return.

Meanwhile at school, students take part in a video for a city event, asking the question "What do you want to be when you grow up?" Manatsu is unsure, even after discussing it later at the Tropical Club. Elda, listening in on the club room's roof, insists she wants to stay a kid.

They decide to ask Manatsu's parents, who reveal they had a lot of different plans for their future when they were growing up: her mother wanted to be a ballet dancer, a vet, and a manicurist; while her father wanted to be a fire truck, a police car, a pirate, a chef, photographer, and singer.

On her way home, Asuka stares at a tennis racket advertisement. Minori stares at her copy of the book she wrote for the Literary Club. Manatsu promises to tell Laura her goal tomorrow. Laura decides to not just be Queen, but a Legendary Queen.

At night, Chongire and Numeri await Elda's return, assuming she will come back when she's hungry. Instead, Elda is stuffing herself with snacks in a supermarket, narrowly avoiding being caught by a night watchman. Here in the human world at night, she can eat all the snacks she likes and play as much as she wants. However, she finds herself wanting to share them with Chongire and Numeri.

On the beach at night, Kururun approaches Elda, offering to share Seashell Cookies with her. Elda storms off, insisting that she's not lonely and will never return home.

At the city's "What Will You Be When You Grow Up" event, Elda is happy to see Chongire, who hands her a red orb to gather Motivation Power so she can come home. She creates a Chou Zettai Yaraneeda from a cardboard box mecha and combines with it to form Elda Robo, stealing Motivation Energy from children at the event. The Cures transform to fight it.

Elda Robo fires off its four limbs at each of four Cures, pinning them down, and launches missiles from its chest at Cure Summer, which she dodges. Summer finds herself in an argument with Elda: Elda doesn't want to grow up because she believes you can't play or eat snacks, but Summer tells her she's wrong. Elda reveals that her real concern is everyone growing up and leaving her behind.

Elda accuses Summer of not knowing what she wants when she grows up. Just then, Manatsu's recording for what she wants to be when she grows up appears on the event's big screen: she'll be whatever she most wants to be at the time. That distracts Elda, allowing Summer to punch Elda off the robot, disabling the four limbs. Cure La Mer recovers the Motivation Power and the Cures defeat the Yaraneeda with Land Beat Dynamic.

Elda returns empty-handed to the mansion, but is hesitant about entering. Numeri welcomes her back, giving her a small stash of Motivation Power to appease Butler. Elda cries and hugs Numeri.

Meanwhile at the event, the girls watch recordings on the big screen, where Manatsu declares her goal to do whatever she wants at the time. Laura declares her goal to be Legendary Queen; not only that, but an Ultimate Queen and Strongest Queen in History. Manatsu asks Laura to promise that no matter what type of queen she becomes, that they will always stay friends.

    • The Crunchyroll version keeps the original opening and ending intact, with Cure La Mer appearing before the ending.
  • This episode features Manatsu recapping what happened in episode 32, as the previous episode was an anthology of vignettes with no bearing on the narrative of the rest of the season.
  • The January 2022 issue of Animage revealed that the staff found this episode relatively difficult to write, as they had to balance Manatsu's personality without making her seem like she's procrastinating on figuring out her future path as an adult.
  • Manatsu's mother wanting to be a pedicurist is a callback to episode 16, where she paints Laura's nails.
