The Hard-Boiled (ハードボイルド, Hādoboirudo?) is a Bike type Extreme Gear that appears in Sonic Free Riders. It is Vector the Crocodile's character-exclusive Extreme Gear, meaning only he can use it, and his default Extreme Gear.
Game appearances
Sonic Free Riders
The Hard-Boiled made its first appearance in Sonic Free Riders as Vector's personal Extreme Gear. According to its profile, the Hard-Boiled was originally a bike model produced by Accelovice and designed for touring. Vector, however, rebuilt the Hard-Boiled so it could be used for racing as well. It is unlocked, alongside Team Rose's and Team Dark's story, when completing Team Heroes's and Team Babylon's stories. It is only usable to Vector in this game.
The Hard-Boiled closely resembles a sports bike. It possesses a yellow color scheme with green translucent parts, black wheels and a large windshield.
Other game appearances
Sonic Speed Simulator
In Sonic Speed Simulator, a Board-type version of the Hard-Boiled appears as an unlockable Extreme Gear of the "Legendary" rarity. it could be obtained by finding 60 investigation clues in Emerald Hill during the "Vector's Investigation" event. Once unlocked, the Hard-Boiled can be used by any character, and essentially functions similarly to all other Extreme Gears in the game. the player can do Hoverboard Boosts and Tricks while using the Hard-Boiled.
Abilities and traits
As a Bike type Extreme Gear, the Hard-Boiled is more powerful, but less maneuverable than most Extreme Gears, and allows its rider to punch through obstacles and barricades. It possesses no unique abilities of its own. It can only be equipped with one additional Gear Part, as the first slot is always set to Power.

Trivia
- It is the second default Bike type Extreme Gear after Eggman's E-Rider in the Sonic Riders series.
- The name "Hard-Boiled" comes from the literary genre Hardboiled, which often center around cold and cynical detectives who witness crime on a daily basis. This is a reference to Vector running his own detective agency.
- The Hard-Boiled is the only character-exclusive Extreme Gear remodeled by the owner who is not a noted tech expert.
- For Sonic Speed Simulator, the Hard-Boiled was released as a Board rather than a Bike for Vector. As a board it is much larger than the average Extreme Gear and uses the same colour scheme as the original Bike version.
