During the Dunan Unification War, Mokumoku joined Riou while he was walking alone in the area south of Forest Village. Not the clearing just south of Forest Village, but in the area that is separated from Forest Village by a chunk of forest. He then decided to stay in the group until the end of the war.
After you have recruited Mukumuku, Makumaku, Mikumiku, and Mekumeku, wander in the area south of Forest Village with at least one open character slot and he will eventually join you in battle. He is usually found near a long big tree in that area.
