Mazus is the Chizen Star in Suikoden II.
He also appears in Genso Suikogaiden Vol. 1.

Profile

Background

Mazus studied magic under Crowley. His ambition is to defeat his master, but he has been unable to achieve it. Mazus and Crowley dueled over a hundred years ago and it caused three mountains to become flattened and a lake to completely dry up. The Karakas Desert, which covers 70% of Senan, is the resulting landscape of the duel.

Appearance

Personality

Mazus is obsessed with sorcery, and constantly experiments with magic, trying new ingredients and catalysts as well as combining different runes.

Story

Suikogaiden Vol.1

Nash and Wakaba spotted Mazus training in the forest path on their way to Greenhill. The training didn't last long, but enough magical destruction affected the area. Nash and Wakaba were almost hit by one of Mazus' poorly aimed magic attacks.

Suikoden II

During the Dunan Unification War, he joined the New State Army and helped Riou in his fight against Highland Army. After the war, he set off for Toran Republic to battle the wizard Crowley, his archrival.

Role in the Game

Speak to Mazus in the Tinto Mines after liberating Greenhill. You have to have at least 100 recruits, since he is a very proud man.

Note: Mazus is one of the few characters that can be Lv. 99 upon recruiting due to a glitch.

Mazus has no known unite attacks.

Mazus is a Magic Unit with +9 ATK and +6 DEF.

Mazus is the only mage character to have a Cavalry skill and he is more powerful than Luc in terms of damaging the enemy frontlines with magic. The main difference is Mazus and his group are able to decimate foes with magic with a cavalry. In his case, he uses fire magic.
