A 100-Coin, also named Giant Coin is a type of coin worth a hundred individual ones, the total number needed to gain an extra life in several Mario-related platformers. 100-Coins first appear in a Wario game, Wario Land: Super Mario Land 3, before making their Mario debut in Mario & Luigi: Partners in Time.
In New Super Mario Bros. 2
The 100 Gold Coin appears in the rainbow levels and grants 100 coins when touched. Given that 100 individual coins earn Mario or another playable character a 1-Up, collecting a 100 Gold Coin does this automatically.
