Chuboomba is a variant of Goomba and an enemy which appears in Mario & Luigi: Bowser's Inside Story and its remake Mario & Luigi: Bowser's Inside Story + Bowser Jr.'s Journey. These creatures make their home in Cavi Cape, but can also be found on Plack Beach.
Description
Chuboombas are Goombas with orange heads. Behind their back is a large white lollipop with a pink swirl.
In Mario & Luigi: Bowser's Inside Story
In the field, Chuboombas generally roam their territory. No Chuboombas can be found in the overworld in Plack Beach, but a Chuboomba may assist a Toothy.
The Chuboomba is also the first enemy fought by Bowser. Its only attack is to ram into Bowser at speed. The Koopa King can counter this move with his Punch, but if it exhales before charging, it will hesitate before impact, possibly throwing Bowser's timing off. If Bowser inhales the Chuboomba's lollipop, he regains health and the Chuboomba runs out of the battle, crying. However, this means Bowser does not gain any EXP from the battle. Chuboombas also appear in the tutorial for his different Special Attacks. If the Bros. fight a Chuboomba, the creature's charge can be dodged by jumping.
Chuboombas are Level 9 with 50 hit points, an attack power of 26, a defense of 31, and a speed of 7. Their defeat nets 18 experience with their loot drop containing 4 coins and possibly a Hot Drumstick.
Behind the scenes
The Chuboomba's name comes from a portmanteau of "chubby" (or just "chub") and "Goomba".
Trivia
- Chuboomba is possibly related to Shrooboid Brat as both use lollipops to attack.
- Strangely, in the Brawl Attack instructions, the Chuboombas do not have their signature lollipop.
