Foot Sweep

The Foot Sweep[citation needed] (足払い[1] Ashiharai?) also known as the Attack (アタック Atakku?),[citation needed] is an attack that appears in the Sonic the Hedgehog series. When using this technique, the user attacks their foes with a leg sweep.

Description

When performing the Foot Sweep, Sonic falls down and presses his left hand against the ground and then sweeps one of his legs around in a 360 degree circle that resembles break-dancing, damaging anything he comes into contact with.

Game appearances

Sonic the Hedgehog (2006)

The Foot Sweep first appeared in Sonic the Hedgehog (2006), where it was called Attack and served as one of Sonic's standard moves. When performing the Foot Sweep in this game, Sonic swings his foot around once while giving off blue sparks. To perform the Foot Sweep in gameplay, the player has to press Square/, which can be done either when Sonic is standing still or moving, allowing the Foot Sweep to cover a larger area, similar to the Sliding Attack.

Sonic Unleashed

The Foot Sweep later reappeared in the Xbox 360/PlayStation 3 version of Sonic Unleashed where it was one of Sonic's standard moves in the daytime stages. When performing the Foot Sweep in this game, Sonic swings his foot around twice while leaving a light blue trail. To perform the Foot Sweep in gameplay, the player has to quickly press Circle/B twice.
