White Gem

The White Gem (ホワイトジェム, Howaito Jemu^?) is an optional Level Up Item for Sonic the Hedgehog in Sonic the Hedgehog (2006) and is one of the seven customized Gems that can be obtained in the game.

Description

The White Gem is a white emerald cut gem, similar in appearance to a Sol Emerald, that can be equipped on Sonic's Custom Shoes. When used, it allows Sonic to perform the Homing Smash, which allows him to manipulate his Homing Attack.

While having set Sonic's Custom Shoes to utilize the White Gem's ability, the White Gem changes their appearance into a gray pair of shoes resembling the Grind Shoes.

Overview

In Sonic the Hedgehog (2006), the White Gem appears as one of the seven obtainable Gems that can be bought at the local Shop. The White Gem becomes available once the player clears Sonic's version of Kingdom Valley in the main story. It can then be bought for 8000 Rings.

Trivia

• 

  Originally, the White Gem would not have been what unlocked the Homing Smash. Instead it would have been a separate pair of bracelet Level Up Items, similar to the Bounce Bracelet. The global flag to activate the model still functions within the game, but it is never used, as the White Gem uses a separate flag. The bracelets appears as a golden and glowing green bracelet on Sonic's wrists, though it is covered by the Bounce Bracelet on his left wrist. What the White Gem would unlock is unknown, has the Homing Smash been tied to these bracelets.
