Quassus

Flick away the enemy with this heavy warfan. The Quassus scatters ethereal daggers that are even more deadly accurate when wielded by Xaku.

The Quassus is Xaku's signature warfan, possessing high damage and critical chance along with throwing ethereal daggers from Heavy Attacks that proc  Slash, with these daggers being more accurate in Xaku's hands.

Characteristics

  • This weapon deals primarily  Slash damage.
  • Stance slot has polarity, matching  Slicing Feathers and  Votive Onslaught stance.
  • Heavy Attacks throws a horizontal spread of ethereal daggers, with each dagger doing 76 base damage.
    • The first heavy attack throws 12 daggers, each with a 2.5x damage multiplier; the second heavy attack in sequence throws 6 daggers, each with a 5x damage multiplier,
    • Damage of the daggers are affected by mods.
    • Daggers are considered a heavy attack. Their damage will scale from the combo counter and mods such as  Killing Blow.
    • Daggers have a guaranteed  Slash proc.
    • Daggers have innate 2 meter Punch Through.
    • Dagger damage does not diminish with distance.
    • Have travel time.
    • Cannot use Thrown Melee mods  Combo Fury,  Power Throw,  Quick Return ( Volatile),  Rebound ( Volatile), and  Whirlwind.
    • Multiple projectile hits from one attack against a single enemy may occasionally get merged into a single "instance" of the attack and Bleed proc, reducing the effectiveness of per-hit mods like  Relentless Combination.
    • Daggers are subject to gravity and are substantially inaccurate over long distances, with vertical deviation being especially apparent.
      • When wielded by Xaku, accuracy is greatly increased, with both vertical and horizontal deviations almost completely eliminated. The base spread of the daggers is unaffected.
    • A single dagger may be controlled with Ivara's Navigator.

Melee Attack Explanations
  • A "sweep attack" is an arcing melee strike that intends to hit an enemy with the edge of the blade (the length of obround melee hitbox).
  • A "thrust attack" is a melee strike that intends to hit an enemy with the tip of the blade (the rounded edge of obround melee hitbox).
  • A "360/spin attack" is a sliding sweep attack that hits targets around the player (not always in a 360° arc, but is usually above 180°).
  • A "direct slam attack" is a melee strike that hits a single target at the epicenter of a slam attack. Affected by the Seismic Wave mod.
  • A "radial slam attack" is the area-of-effect component of the melee slam attack. Affected by the Seismic Wave mod.
  • A "ranged attack" is any melee attack that launches a ranged projectile or can hit targets beyond melee range.

  • Average Damage Multiplier per second only applies to single-target DPS calculations.
  • Note that hits marked as "Radial Slam Attack" will not apply at the epicenter of a single target hit so these will not be accounted for in Avg Dmg Multi/s calculations.
  • Combo animation lengths are approximate and are only accurate within a few tenths of a second.
  • Each tile marking in stance preview gifs are 2m apart.
  • Combos labeled with an asterisk (*) are shared between weapons within the same weapon type.

Notes

  • Warfan slams hit twice.
    • Second hit of a heavy slam will use the stats of a normal slam.
  • The amount of knives thrown by the heavy attack is affected by  Octavia's  Metronome's Opera multishot buff.
  •  Jet Stream can be used to increase the speed of the daggers.
  • As it is a melee attack, all four of  Mirage's  Hall of Mirrors throw their own full set of knives with each heavy attack.

Trivia

  • Quassus is Latin for "shaking".
  • The Quassus was designed by Kedemel.

Patch History

Update 29.5 (2020-11-19)

  • Fixed the Quassus and Gunsen gaining different Melee combo counters on first hit with the Slicing Feathers Stance. They will both have the same 3 combo counter hits now.

Hotfix 29.2.1 (2020-10-01)

  • Fixed the Quassus leaving you "unarmed" after using heavy attacks.

Hotfix 29.1.1 (2020-09-18)

  • Fixed issue that stopped Pressure Point and its derivatives from not applying to Quassus Heavy Attack projectiles.

Hotfix 29.0.8 (2020-09-10)

  • Increased Heavy Attack projectiles from 35 to 76
    • Also fixed Quassus Heavy Attack projectiles being slowed down to 15% of their original speed after punching through an enemy.
  • Reduced horizontal spread of projectiles
    • Quassus throws 12 projectiles with a pretty wide horizontal spread, spreading the Damage across multiple targets. Individual damage was not where we wanted it. Increasing it over 100%, narrowing the spread and making sure it will hit additional targets after passing through, increases its lethality to intended levels.

Hotfix 29.0.2 (2020-08-26)

  • Fixed a crash when inspecting the Quassus’ stats in the Mission Progress screen while in the Cambion Drift.

Update 29.0 (2020-08-25)

  • Introduced.
