Strun Prime

“Market forces dictate that you need to evolve or die.”
Strun Prime is Vaulted.
The Void Relics for this item have been removed from the drop tables and do not drop during missions at this time. Check the current Prime Resurgence rotation to see if Varzia offers relics for this item. Vaulted Void Relics already contained in player inventories are not affected and can still be either opened or traded between players.

A classic shotgun design, embellished for the elite as only the Orokin could.

Strun Prime is the Primed variant of the  Strun. In addition to being a direct upgrade, it has gained innate punch through and longer damage falloff range, but at the expense of slower reload speed. It was released alongside  Nidus Prime and  Magnus Prime.

Characteristics

  • This weapon deals primarily  Impact and  Slash damage.
  • Reloads one shell at a time at a rate of 0.4 seconds per shell, which can be interrupted at any point, allowing for planned reloading.
    • Reloading has a total 0.6 second delay to start and end.
    • Individual shell reload causes magazine increasing effects to increase total reload time.

Advantages over other Primary weapons (excluding modular weapons):

  • High overall status chance (0.8 procs per shot on average).
  • Innate 0.8 meter punch through.
  • The linear damage falloff is further away than most shotguns: from 100% to 50% from 26m to 52m target distance (distances are affected by Projectile Speed).
  • Normal Attack (wiki attack index 1)
    • Very high total damage (648)
    • High average number of procs per shot (0.80)
    • Very high average number of crits per shot (2.88)
    • Above average crit multiplier (2.20x)
  • Incarnon Form (wiki attack index 2)
    • Very high crit chance (48.00%)
    • Very high status chance (46.00%)
    • Very high crit multiplier (3.40x)
  • Incarnon Form AoE (wiki attack index 3)
    • Above average active falloff slope (20.0m/%)
    • High crit chance (48.00%)
    • Above average fire rate (2.50 attacks/sec)
    • High status chance (46.00%)
    • Very high crit multiplier (3.40x)

Disadvantages over other Primary weapons (excluding modular weapons):

  • Normal Attack (wiki attack index 1)
    • Very low reload speed (4.60 s)
    • Below average magazine (10)
    • Below average fire rate (3.33 attacks/sec)
    • Below average ammo max (120)
    • Very low status chance (6.67%)
  • Incarnon Form (wiki attack index 2)
    • Very low reload speed (4.60 s)
    • Low magazine (10)
    • Below average total damage (100)
    • Below average ammo max (120)
  • Incarnon Form AoE (wiki attack index 3)
    • Very low maximum falloff distance (4.0 m)
    • Very low reload speed (4.60 s)
    • Low magazine (10)
    • Below average ammo max (120)

Tips

  • Because of the need to reload the magazine one shot at a time, the Strun Prime has an extremely slow reload speed before reaching maximum ammo capacity. It can therefore benefit from things that help economize its loaded ammo such as  Energized Munitions, or those that bypass its reloading mechanism such as from  Garuda's  Bloodletting with the  Blood Forge augment, to maintain the weapon's otherwise generally high overall DPS output potential.

Update 32.0 (2022-09-07)

Ammo Changes

We understand the power fantasy of these weapons is very popular for some, so our first approach was to keep them powerful, but limit how often they can be used by making changes to ammo pick-up.

Ammo Pickup Overrides
The following weapons now have ammo pickup overrides, meaning they gain less from picking up ammo. This mostly applies to AoE weapons, in hopes that players will become more deliberate with their aim to make the most of their Ammo pools. The following lists the specific ammo pick up overrides per weapon category.

Primary Weapon Ammo Pick Up Overrides

15 Ammo per Pick Up:

  • Strun Prime

Update 30.7 (2021-09-08)

  • Introduced.
