- "A techno song that has a slightly high tempo. Are you playing the drums in a cyber city?"
- ―Music Comment
E.C.M. is a hidden song that appears in the home release of pop'n music 2. It can be unlocked, after playing ARCADE MODE for 6 hours in total. Another option to unlock E.C.M. is to play the Beginner Course in Marathon Mode, where it will appear in Stage 1 of NORMAL MODE.
This song was transported to pop'n music 3 as part of the Final Stage. In the console version, it is part of the default songlist.
In pop'n music 13 カーニバル, E.C.M. received new HYPER and EX charts, which could be unlocked via the Waku Waku Pop'n Land (わくわく ポップンランド?) event. In the console version, however, the song is part of the default songlist.
E.C.M.'s HYPER chart was re-rated in pop'n music éclale on March 22, 2016.

Trivia
General
- E.C.M. is the first BEMANI song contribution by Eiichi Kitsukawa, the programmer and sound data analyzer.
- This song is also his only one that he composed; he would later write lyrics to some of the later songs.
- E.C.M. was the only pop'n music 2 CS crossover in pop'n music 3 whose rival character was not Aya.
- The song's NORMAL chart is bizarrely known to have tight timing windows, making it harder to either do a full combo or perfect combo.
Etymology
- E.C.M. is an abbreviation for "Ese Chinese Music" (Faux Chinese Music), as stated by Yoichi Hayashi.
- The song's genre, AKIBA, refers to a district from Tokyo, Japan, called Akihabara (秋葉原?). This district is generically known to be a primary shopping area that vends electronics, video games, and promotional items from anime.
Song Production Information[1]
I know some of you may be wondering,
"What kind of genre is 'AKIBA'?"
Of course, there is no such genre. It's just a theme (I'm out of ideas (laughs)).
This song was created by sound programmer PAPEHINA. It's techno with a sense of speed.
Originally, it had a lot of kung-fu style screaming sound effects, etc., which made it sound very Chinese-ish, but it sounded like a joke halfway through, so I asked PAPEHINA to change it.
In the middle and the last parts of the song, there is a part where three-note and four-note phrases attack each other alternately. This part is easy to press by eye, but when interpreted musically, it is "least common denominator-like" and unexpectedly difficult. It is an interesting experiment.
E.C.M., by the way, stands for "Ese Chinese Music" (Faux Chinese Music).
