Clefts are enemies in the Paper Mario series. They first appear in Paper Mario and return in Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door.
Profile
Physical description
Originally, in Paper Mario, Clefts had a brown appearance and had red boots. Instead of the brownish color and red boots they had in this first game, they now are gray and have black boots. In Super Paper Mario, Clefts didn't make an appearance as regular "Clefts," but "Moon Clefts" did. Moon Clefts were Clefts from Thousand-Year Door that had a very similar color scheme to that of the original. Oddly enough, the Moon Clefts in Super Paper Mario do not appear on a moon at all, as they appear in the Crag land.
In Paper Mario series
Paper Mario
In Paper Mario, Clefts are powerful rock enemies with spikes on them, and can be tough to beat. These guys are found on the steep ranges of Mt. Rugged. These creatures, in the overworld anyway, appear like a normal gray-colored rock. However, they reveal their true color and appearance when approached.
Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door
Clefts return as enemies, and they are just as hard to defeat, but still have the weakness of a quake attack. These guys appear in the Glitz Pit as well, against the "Mind Bogglers."

"This is a Cleft. Clefts are pretty strong, so you'd better be careful. Max HP: 2, Attack Power: 2, Defense Power: 2 Their specialty is pretending to be rocks, so watch your step on the mountain. You'll get hurt if you jump on the spikes on their heads. You know, there's courage in running away sometimes..." |
