A Spinning Flower is a type of flower which appears as an object in both Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars and Paper Mario.
Physical description
A Spinning Flower's design vastly differs between Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars and Paper Mario; in the former game, Spinning Flower with four pink petals and a yellow head with two black eyes, whereas the latter removes a Spinning Flower's head and changes its petals to purple.
In Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars

Spinning Flowers appear in only three areas, Mushroom Way, Bandit's Way, and Land's End. Whenever Mario stands on a Spinning Flower, he spins around, and by jumping off, Mario is launched into a single direction; this is necessary to reach certain areas.
In Paper Mario

Spinning Flowers are only found on Lavalava Island. When Mario lands on a Spinning Flower, the player can press the button to have Mario hover even higher. This is usually done to collect coins. However, using a Spinning Flower is required to find one of the missing Yoshi Kids of the Fearsome 5.
