- This article is about the character from Shin Nekketsu Kōha: Kunio-tachi no Banka. For the Downtown Nekketsu series character, see Mamoru Tōdō.
Mamoru (まもる ) is a supporting character featured in Shin Nekketsu Kōha: Kunio-tachi no Banka. He is a student at Nekketsu High School and is the son of Takayama.
Background
Mamoru is first mentioned by Takayama when Kunio and Riki arrive at the Nerima Juvenile Correction Facility where he asks Kunio if Mamoru is a classmate of his. With Kunio confirming his question and asking why it matters, Takayama claims that ever since Mamoru started hanging out with him, he's gone down a bad path.
When Kunio and Riki make their escape and get their uniforms back from Daiki, they get ready to leave and check in on Hanazono High School, though Takayama spots the group and gets ready to hit them with his baton. Before Takayama is able to attack, Mamoru grabs him from behind and pleads with his father to stop what he's doing. Mamoru tells Kunio to leave and enrages Takayama as he asks his son if he's still hanging out with Kunio. Mamoru attempts to tell his father that Kunio wasn't responsible for the hit and run accident, though his father ignores him and continues to demand that he be let go.
Shortly after the incident, Mamoru would help his father look into Kunio and Riki's case to prove their innocence and find the real culprit. He later appears alongside his father outside of the Blue Emperor hideout and informs the group that Ken was adopted by Sabu two years prior. When Misako and Kyōko are later shot by Sabu, Mamoru meets the boys outside of the pachinko parlor with his father and asks them what's happening. With Takayama offering to lead Kunio and Riki to Sabu's second house in Izu, he asks Mamoru to take Misako and Kyōko to the hospital. Before leaving, Mamoru tells Kunio and Riki to be careful.
During the ending of the game, Mamoru would find out that Misako and Kyōko have survived and would call his father to inform him of the news.
