Kong Rong is a minor character featured in River City Saga: Three Kingdoms based off of the real-life historical figure. He is a bureaucrat in the service of the Han dynasty.
Background
Kong Rong is first mentioned by Gongsun Zan (Heilman) during the beginning of the third chapter where he informs Guan Yu (Kunio) that one of Kong Rong's underlings came by Pingyuan looking for help from some Yellow Turban remnants who have them surrounded. Upon clearing the Yellow Turbans in Huang, Kong Rong will thank Guan Yu and introduce himself. Liu Bei (Gōda) expresses that he's relieved Kong Rong was unharmed and mentions that they've heard about him through Gongsun Zan. Kong Rong states that he sent Taishi Ci to specifically look for Gongsun Zan and questions if the brothers were sent in his place, though assures that regardless he's thankful for their help and compliments the brothers for their strength.
Kong Rong then asks the brothers if they know who Tao Qian is, to which Liu Bei will state that he's only heard the name and ask if something has happened. Kong Rong mentions that ever since the Imperial Court fell with Dong Zhuo (Sabu) out of the picture, Cao Cao (Yamada) has taken action in order to take advantage of that. He expresses his concerns for Xuzhou as it has a weak defense and because Tao Qian is extremely ill. The brothers offer to help out Tao Qian as they believe Cao Cao doesn't have the right to be messing around with other people's homes.
