Synopsis
History
During the war between humanity and demons, Wahrheit, a member of one of the Three Great Knightly Houses of the Northern Lands, was tasked by The Emperor with eliminating the Demon King's forces. His mission brought him to various villages ravaged by Macht of the Golden Land, where he observed that some had been turned to gold while others were not. This led Wahrheit to theorize that Macht’s spell, Diagoldze, required specific conditions to activate.
Several decades before the passing of the Hero Himmel, and before the rise of the Hero of the South and the Hero Party, Wahrheit confronted Macht of the Golden Land in a deserted town. Macht noticed Wahrheit's presence and called out for him to reveal himself. Stepping out from behind a building, Wahrheit introduced himself as one of the three Great Knights of the Northern Lands.[3] He was initially dismissed by Macht, who began to leave. However, Wahrheit then attacked, declaring that retreat was not an option. He told him that he had been ordered directly by The Emperor to eradicate the Demon King's forces in these lands.[2]

The two engaged in battle, with Wahrheit unleashing a relentless flurry of arrows. Yet, Macht evaded or blocked them effortlessly. Despite this, Wahrheit remained resolute, declaring his belief that Macht's ability to transmute objects into gold required specific conditions. He confidently stated that he would ensure Macht did not meet any of them.[4]
To Wahrheit's surprise, Macht only laughed, amused by the notion. Macht then revealed that his spell, Diagoldze, required no effort or conditions—it was as natural to him as lifting his arm. As Macht approached, Wahrheit’s body began to transmute into gold. Struggling to understand, his final words before fully transforming were simply, "Then why." Wahrheit never heard Macht's reply, but the demon answered nonetheless, he explained that the reason was simply because it would be mundane to do so.[5]
