Introduction

Wehrlosヴァルロス Varurosu?, real name Rasenラーゼン Rāzen? and formerly known as The Hero of the Far North (きた) () ての (えい) (ゆう) Kita no Hate no Eiyū?,[1] is a dwarf that currently lives as a vagabond. He is part of the Shadow Warriors and is assigned to the mission to assassinate the Great Mage Serie. In the past, he was a hero who recaptured a third of the territories of the Empire from the army of the Demon King.

Personality

Not much is known about Wehrlos's personality. He seems to show a sense of humor from his interaction with Gazelle, and his remark about Schritt being a drunk. He also appears to have excellent memory, recalling Frieren from a past list of Shadow Warrior's targets, as well as the details of a power struggle that occurred half a century ago. However, he has a secretive side as well, demonstrated by his reluctance to let Wolf pry any further into his knowledge and memories.

Appearance

Wehrlos is short in stature, as is typical of dwarves. He has long, light-colored hair and a matching long beard. In the past known as the hero Rasen, he wore a suit of plate armor, as well as a helmet. Now, as a vagabond, he is dressed in a long, light-colored cloak. Frieren notes that his appearance in the present day makes him look as if he came from a gutter.[1]

Synopsis

History

Over eighty years ago, Rasen emerged as a key figure in the Empire's efforts to reclaim its territories, becoming known as the Hero of the Far North. He successfully recaptured one-third of the Empire's lands from the demons. During the journey of the Hero Party, Rasen met Himmel, and the two shook hands, likely symbolizing their mutual respect and collaboration.

Foundation Festival Arc

Wehrlos is first seen when Lore the nun distributes soup to the needy. He learns of the new mission to assassinate the Great Mage Serie and relays this information to the street vendor Gazelle.

The next day, Wehrlos participates in the final meeting along with the other Shadow Warriors to review the mission details.

After leaving the meeting, and following Iris's and Routine's scouting of the escape route to the Imperial Palace —deeming it unusable due to flooding — Wehrlos decides to check it himself. He manages to swim through it in twenty minutes and then goes to Clematis's church to report his findings, completely soaked. While there, Clematis and Wehrlos discuss the findings as well as their strategy moving forward.

Abilities

Not much is known about Wehrlos's abilities. As a dwarf, former hero, and Shadow Warrior, he likely excels in the areas of strength, speed, mana suppression, and anti-mage combat. Wehrlos is also immune to poison,[2] and can swim underwater for at least twenty minutes.[3]
