| Introduction |
Radaal ｢ラダール Radāru?｣ is a human Shadow Warrior assigned to monitor individuals traveling the mountain path, around the Aufgabe Federation, which was once the sole route to the Imperial Capital from the south. His mission was to eliminate everyone on a specific list, which includes Frieren.
Personality
Appearance
Radaal is an elderly man with a bald head and a goatee. He has a deeply wrinkled face. His village chief attire consists of a dark robe that envelops him. In his Shadow Warrior uniform, he wears a black costume with buckles.
Synopsis
History
Around twenty-nine years before the death of Himmel the Hero, Radaal was one of four Shadow Warriors assigned to guard a mountain path in the Aufgabe Federation. The team decided to infiltrate a village nearby, posing as a family, with Radaal assuming the role of the youngest son and adopting the name Radaal. They spent decades living in the village, where Radaal eventually settled and married, all while secretly eliminating their targets.
Over time, Radaal became the last surviving member of his team, following the death of his older brother approximately twenty-eight years after Himmel’s passing. At some point during this, he would become the village's mayor. Also at some point, Radaal started checking his mailpost, waiting for the message to be sent that their mission was finally over.
Imperial Territory Travels Arc
Thirty-one years after the passing of Hero Himmel, Frieren and her party pass through a village in the Aufgabe Federation, seeking a place to rest. Radaal immediately recognizes Frieren as the last person on his list from decades ago. However, he initially acts cordially and offers her and her companions a vacant house to stay in.
Later that night, Radaal dons his Shadow Warrior gear and attempts to assassinate Frieren. He briefly knocks out Stark, who was guarding the entrance, and manages to subdue Frieren—until Stark and Fern launch a counterattack, allowing Frieren to hold Radaal at bay with her staff. Frieren persuades him to abandon his mission, telling him that no one remembers it anymore. When Radaal asks what meaning his life had after all this time, Frieren tells him that he will have to discover that for himself.
The following morning, Radaal does not open the mailpost. His wife then stands beside him and asks if he will not open it this time. When Radaal asks if she knew, she does not respond and instead comments on the pleasant weather, to which Radaal agrees.
Relationships
Abilities
As a Shadow Warrior, Radaal excels in strength, speed, mana suppression, and anti-mage combat. During missions, he wields a knife and carries a hidden, sheathed blade on his suit. Radaal is highly skilled in close combat, able to close the distance between himself and Stark effortlessly, even before Stark has a chance to draw his weapon. Additionally, he can quickly subdue Frieren, pinning her to the ground and placing a knife at her throat.
