Introduction

Kanoneカノーネ Kanōne? is the vice-captain of the Empire's Magic Special Forces, who, alongside Neu, is assigned to patrol the social gathering that Land and Übel are sent to infiltrate. She is able to deduce that Land and Übel are not who they appear to be and confronts them with Neu, only for them to have already escaped.

Personality

Kanone is polite and respectful toward superiors and nobility, as seen in her interactions with Denken and Glück. She also demonstrates loyalty and care for Captain Fräse, consistently carrying a type of cigarette package that Fräse likes, even though Kanone does not seem inclined to smoke.[2] However, Kanone also appears to have some apprehension towards Fräse, evident in her reluctance to report the damages caused by Neu in the old Imperial Square.[3]

Appearance

Kanone has black hair that is tied up into a long ponytail. She wears the standard Magic Special Forces uniform, which includes a belted and collared tunic, black gloves and boots, a black ascot tie with a gem, a collared cape, trousers, and a matching officer cap decorated with the emblem of the Magic Special Forces. To denote her status as a vice-captain within the Magic Special Forces, Kanone's tunic has the vice-captain insignia, represented by two stars engraved on the emblem of the collar pin.[4] Kanone also carries a standard-issue sharp melee weapon resembling a baton that can be used to cast magic, featuring an arced hand guard.

Synopsis

Foundation Festival Arc

Kanone and Neu are first introduced while guarding VIPs at a manor during the National Foundation Day Festival. When Neu discovers Übel and Land in a room, he reports their presence to Kanone and suggests they investigate further. Kanone initially decides to leave them alone, considering the room to be unused. However, Neu senses that Übel and Land are powerful mages, prompting both to prepare to enter the room.

Kanone then spots a badge from the Imperial Magic Academy on the ground. She explains to Neu that barging in could result in an embarrassing situation for a noble, which might lead to severe repercussions for both of them, such as being reassigned to a remote location. Neu finds this prospect unappealing, so they initially decide to let the matter go.

Later, upon noticing that the badge is bent, Kanone and Neu forcefully enter the room, only to find that Übel and Land have already disappeared. Kanone instructs Neu to pursue them while she stays behind to investigate the room.
