Introduction |
Löwe 「レーヴェ Rēve?」 is the human Governor-General of the Lorbeer Domain in the northernmost part of the Empire. He is one of the Empire's Shadow Warriors and is leading the mission to assassinate Serie during the Empire's Foundation Festival. Löwe is the codename that he provides Schritt when she asks what name and status he has been masquerading as in order to better fulfill his role as a Shadow Warrior; it is unknown what his original name actually is.
Personality
Löwe is a humble and easy-going man despite his high status. Though he is Governor-General of the Lorbeer Domain, he speaks openly with his subordinates and is fairly casual in his address. Even when faced with potential setbacks, Löwe is calm and wears a genial smile. He proclaims that there is no need for virtue and that he must abandon pride and honor in order to seize victory, implying that he is ruthless in order to accomplish his missions. However, Löwe does appear to take a lot of pride in his work, going so far as to freshen up before his missions. He is aware his face will be the last his target sees, and so he wants to face them with courtesy. In addition, when speaking to Schritt about mission details, Löwe is much more serious and lectures her about her inebriation affecting her skill as a Shadow Warrior.
Appearance
Löwe is a tall man with long, light-colored hair that he keeps in a neat ponytail. He keeps all of his hair tied back and away from his forehead. Unlike the rest of his hair, his sideburns are dark. Löwe specifically asks that his sideburns be styled unnaturally and freshens up his appearance before his missions as a Shadow Warrior. The right side of his face is extensively scarred from cheek to hairline, and he wears an eyepatch over his right eye. Löwe wears a gray vest over a white collared dress shirt. He wears dark slacks, a long gray suit jacket, and a white cravat pinned with a gemstone at the collar. When heading out on missions, he wears his sword at his hip and dons a dark cloak.
Synopsis
History
Twenty years in the past, Löwe, who was only known as a nameless warrior from a remote region, defeated Minus the Witch, an elven Great Mage who brought endless war to the Southern Lands and was accused of high treason. The battle is what claimed Löwe's right eye and burned the right side of his face. Löwe would go on to take Minus's Holy Emblem in the aftermath.
Some time after this feat, Löwe rose to become the Governor-General of the Lorbeer Domain.
Foundation Festival Arc
Löwe is first introduced getting his hair done by his hairstylist. When asked what he wants to do with his sideburns, he requests that they are styled unnaturally, prompting the hairstylist to ask whether Löwe has a new mission. Löwe confirms that he does have a new mission, and that since his face is the last his targets will see, he wants to face them courteously.
Some time later, Löwe has traveled to the Imperial Capital, Eiseberg. He dines at a restaurant with a balcony overlooking the rest of the capital. While he eats, Löwe's butler scopes out Frieren's Party from afar using his binoculars. When Frieren makes eye contact with him, he remarks in surprise that she saw him. This causes Löwe to assess that Frieren is powerful and that his servant wasn't careful enough. When his servant asks if it will interfere with the plan, Löwe asks him the same question. His servant states that it is only a minor problem compared to the goal of assassinating Serie. Afterwards, as he and his servant leave the restaurant, he tells the waiter to keep the change. Löwe proclaims that Shadow Warriors have no need for virtue, as they will leave no mark in history anyways, and that he will abandon pride and honor if that is what it takes to seize victory.
Löwe then travels to the bar run by the barkeep Wolf in the Imperial Capital. Outside the bar, he calls for the attention of Schritt, the mercenary, by asking for directions. Löwe chides Schritt to enjoy her drink in moderation lest she lose her touch with the blade. When she approaches his carriage, he hands her a note detailing the new mission, and tells her to inform the other Shadow Warriors. Schritt then asks him to introduce himself, as he must have had a name and status that allowed him to carry out his missions successfully. Löwe introduces himself as the Governor-General of the Lorbeer Domain. After Schritt introduces herself in turn, he leaves the bar.
Abilities
Not much is known about Löwe's abilities. However, considering his position as a Shadow Warrior, he is presumably a strong anti-mage warrior that excels in strength and speed. Löwe wears a sword at his hip, suggesting it is his weapon of choice.
