Selma is a swordswoman who used a two handed sword. She lives in the Great Elven Tree on Na-Nal island. She always assist the elven chief and always follows his orders.

Suikoden IV
During the Island Liberation War, Selma helped the elven chief to deceive Lazlo and his party. They let Lazlo and his party got the Elven Remedy, which is actually a poison and gave it to the injured Kooluk soldier. As a result, the Kooluk soldiers got angry and ordered to kill the people on Na-Nal Island. Knowing this, Selma felt uneasy and let Lazlo and his party escape. The elven chief was not happy about this, and she was banished from her village as a result. She decided to join the Island Liberation Navy and helped Lazlo to fight against the Kooluk. When she was on board of the Dauntless she found it comfortable and felt happy about it. After the war, she was forgiven by the Elven Elder and she returned to the village with Paula.
Suikoden Tactics
At the Fall of Kooluk, Selma along with Paula and Jewel were sent by Lino En Kuldes to help Kyril fight the Kooluk Soldier in the Small Border Village and she joined Kyril’s group. She and Axel were planning to go back to Na-Nal and start a serious discussion between humans and elves about building a new Na-Nal together.
Selma is a bit of an oddity when it comes to great sword users as for she is actually more of a mage with fighting capability. She has the highest affinity to water magic and above average affinity with wind and earth, making her best suited for support. Her high strength (for a mage type) balances her support affinity well, allowing her to deal decent damage when the party doesnt require any healing or buff.

This was my first time getting on a ship, and I am pleased to say it is quite a comfortalbe experience.
It seems her late mother once lived in our village... She must have been banished, just as I was. I wonder if Paula has any desire to return to that village...
She's almost exactly the same as Mitsuba, but higher in HP and lower in ATK and DEF. And SPD, which is kind of the kiss of death. A Great Sword user's utility hinges on how close to adequate their SPD can come (except Axel, who would suck even at a high speed), so that means Mitsuba's going to win out every time. Also, I'd rather have high DEF than HP. It's just the better stat for this game.
The best thing about Selma is that she gets pretty decent use out of her Counterattack and Smash skills, and with her strength, you can find enemies leaving the board unexpectedly.
