Slide Turn

The Slide Turn[1] is a move that appears in the Sonic the Hedgehog series. It is a racing maneuver exclusively for users of Wheel-type Extreme Gear, where the user makes a sharp turn at high speed.

Description

SRZG Slide Turn v2

When performing the Slide Turn, the user leans in the direction they want to turn on their Extreme Gear, causing it to tilt and make a sharp sliding turn along the ground while maintaining their speed. Once aligned in the direction they want to head in, the user will shoot forward in the direction they are facing with a high speed boost.

In Sonic Riders: Zero Gravity, the Slide Turn allows the player to make sharp turns and get through tight corners without using Gravity Control. However, it is only usable to playable characters using a Wheel type Extreme Gear, or SCR-GP. Gameplay-wise, the Slide Turn is necessary for Wheel type Extreme Gears, as they have a weak Gravity Control and must rely on their turning skills. To perform Slide Turn in gameplay, the player must first press the following button while using the steering controls to adjust their direction:

PlayStation 2 Wii[2]
Wii Remote
(sideways)
Wii Remote
(vertical)
GameCube controller
Cross 2 A

Using the aforementioned controls will make the playable character twist around. Once the player releases the button above, the playable character will shoot forward in the direction they are facing. If the character bumps into a wall as they are performing the Slide Turn however, the move will be canceled.
