GP Gain UP

GP Gain UP is an object that appears in the Sonic the Hedgehog series. It is an Extreme Gear Gear Part that increases the amount of Gravity Points the user accumulates from special actions.

Description

GP Gain UP is an installable performance-enhancing component for Extreme Gears. Its actual appearance is unknown, though it is presented as an icon on the head-up display in the top-left corner of the game screen. Its icon is a light blue-colored circle with a black oblique swirl inscribed in it, much like GP Gauge UP's icon, and has "X 1.5" written on it.

Overview

In the game, GP Gain UP is permanently installed into only certain Extreme Gears. When in use, GP Gain UP increases the amount of Gravity Points the player earns from performing tricks, air riding through Dash Rings, causing Meteor Burst during Gravity Dive etc., by 50%.

In gameplay, GP Gain UP and its ability will be disabled when starting a new race. To activate GP Gain UP, the player must press one of the following buttons after collecting a certain number of Rings:

PS2 Wii (remote) - sideways Wii (remote) - forward Wii (Nintendo GameCube Controller)
Up on Directional buttons

When activating GP Gain UP, the player's Rings will be reduced accordingly by the number needed to enable it and the Extreme Gear is surrounded by an orange void, indicating the Gear Part's ability is in effect. The following Extreme Gears come equipped with the GP Gain UP:

Trivia

  • The percentage increase in earned Gravity Points that GP Gain UP grants is the same as the amount of Rings needed to activate it.
