“ | Glue Storm Ability: Pelts the whole screen with glue for 20 seconds. | ” |
~ In-game description |
Glue Storm is the fifth and final upgrade for Path 2 for the Glue Gunner in Bloons TD 6. It upgrades the Glue Strike ability into the Glue Storm ability, which keeps reapplying super sticky glue to all bloons on screen every 1 second over 20 seconds. The application rate of the ability glue is affected by attack speed boosts, such as from Jungle Drums or Overclock. This ability glue lasts twice as long on all affected bloons (22s, or 48s with 0-5-1). The cooldown for the ability is 40 seconds, more than Glue Strike’s 30 second cooldown, and initial cooldown increases by 10 seconds.
All Bloons affected by the Glue Storm's ability glue take +2 damage, similar to a stronger Embrittlement, and temporarily stop Lead properties. With Corrosive Glue crosspath, the corrosion effect self-synergizes with the damage bonuses. Glue Storm will vastly increase the overall power of high-attack speed high-projectile towers such as Comanche Commander or Sun Avatar towards Bloons that become vulnerable by the ability. Its sticky glue also renders affected Leads and Frozen bloons vulnerable to any damage type. Glue Storm does not need camo detection to affect Camo Bloons, including DDTs.
This upgrade costs $13,600 on Easy, $16,000 on Medium, $17,280 on Hard, and $19,200 on Impoppable.
Description
Overview

Upgrading to Glue Storm adds a third glue tank to the Glue Gunner and makes the suit orange instead of yellow. There are also four smaller hoses on the glue tanks. When activating its ability, the smaller glue hoses wiggle around back and forth, while the entire screen is perpetually raining in sticky yellow glue and producing noises of squirting the aforementioned extra sticky glue for an extended period of time.
Glue Storm upgrades into a new ability that causes all bloons on screen to receive glue that soaks up to 3 layers and causes them to be temporarily vulnerable to +2 damage and temporarily lose Lead properties, and the glue lasts twice as long. MOAB-class bloons are also affected, but the glue won't soak through any of their layers. Additionally, the glue is perpetually glued every 1s for up to 20s. Its main attack is statistically equivalent to Glue Hose. Storms of glue can accept external speed buffs, increasing the maximum number of times that the storms strike onto bloons.
When the Glue Storm ability is activated, the ability automatically strikes super sticky glue, and repeats every 1s until the duration finishes. During the process, the tubes waves around wildly, as if to squirt this sticky substance everywhere. This continues up to 20 times throughout the 20s duration.
Glue Storm's main glue is considered a Level 1 glue, unless given higher-tier glues, specifically with Corrosive Glue. Higher-tier upgrades can override this glue. Glue Strike's damage debuff on bloons is apparently separate from the glue prioritization system, but such a status effect appears to not work if used with Upper Path 1 Glue Gunners or Upper Path 3 Glue Gunners. 2-5-0 Glue Storm's corrosive strike glue does self-synergize with the debuff, dealing 3 damage every 2.0s.
Activated Abilities

Glue Storm is an improved version of Glue Strike, for the Tier 5 upgrade of the same name. It persistently glues all bloons on screen for 20 seconds, once immediately upon activation and every 1 seconds the glue reapplies (i.e. will apply glue up to 20 times during the ability). Like Glue Strike, all affected bloons are vulnerable to +2 damage and Frozen and Lead Bloons vulnerable to any damage type attack for the duration of the glue, but the glue lasts twice as long. The ability glue can soak up to 3 layers.
Glue Storm ability has a cooldown of 30 seconds, alongside a 10 second initial cooldown. The total uptime of the glue varies, assuming bloons are perpetually struck by glue; ???% if x-5-0, or ???% if 0-5-2. The glue itself has an uptime of ???% if x-5-0, or ???% if 0-5-2.
Unlike the Glue Strike ability, the Glue Storm ability is not an "instant" ability, but rather a "duration" ability; it cannot be re-activated if the monkey is already in an act of gluing bloons with its ability.
Glue Storm's ability cooldowns can accept cooldown reduction buffs from Primary Mentoring and Primary Expertise, as well as the global Energizer buff. It can also accept the cooldown reset of Geraldo's Rejuv Potion. It also accepts cooldown reduction bonuses from Monkey Knowledge and Relic Knowledge.
Targeting Priorities
Glue Storm's main attack targets bloons using the standard targeting priorities. Its main attack shoots straight movement projectiles.
- First: Targets the first bloon visible within its range.
- Last: Targets the last bloon visible within its range.
- Close: Targets the closest bloon visible within its range.
- Strong: Targets the strongest bloon visible within its range.
Glue Storm's ability targets all bloon types across the whole screen, and because it has infinite pierce this attack has no specific targeting priority. Adding Corrosive Glue allows gluing of all bloon types.

Strategy
Summary
Glue Storm improves the potential of the Glue Strike ability by continuously producing storms of glue every second for a very long time with twice the duration. The combination of the damage vulnerability to blimps and the stopping of lead properties allows the Glue Storm to excel as a widespread anti-MOAB support, especially against Boss Bloons and DDTs, and greatly boosts the damage of large swarms of weaker high-projectile attacks. Timing the Glue Storm ability now depends much more on beginning it to last between problematic waves and layers of blimps, and no ability timing is required on pure single-target bloons since the glue lasts much longer than the remaining downtime of the storms. With the Corrosive Glue crosspath, the ability also is a great way to shut down bloon rushes by corroding deeply into bloons with its self-synergetic damage vulnerability to affected bloons.
Tips
- Crosspath the Glue Storm for its general purposes. The glue lasts quite long already, and already sticks to MOAB-class regardless of crosspaths, so the 2-5-0 is still superior against bloons especially for the mid-game, although 0-5-2 is generally superior if opting for late-game to weaken MOAB-class and Super Ceramics for longer and slow better against Super Ceramics.
- Most use cases of crosspaths for Glue Storm rely on that for Glue Strike, especially for the mid-game. 2-4-0 Glue Strike's bonus DoT damage derives from self-synergy with its bloon debuffs, whereas 0-4-2 Glue Strike is more reliable on single-layered targets such as outer layers of Ceramics and MOAB-class. Glue Storm isn't as dependent on crosspathing as Glue Strike.
- 0-5-2 Glue Storm makes a bigger difference if the targets are Super Ceramics, since the extra slowdown on top becomes even more effective. On the other hand, 2-5-0 Glue Storm is damage-oriented.
- All crosspaths of Glue Storm have full debuffing uptime on pure single-target bloons, assuming no intrinsic immunity (e.g. Dreadbloon's Primary layer, Gravelord Lych's etherealization) gets in the way. This is because the 20s storming duration applying glue of 22s duration (or 48s with 0-5-1) is more than the 40s ability cooldown of that ability; Glue Storm ability has 2s of surplus uptime (28s of surplus uptime with 0-5-1) for its bloon-debuffing on singular targets.
- Assuming if a Boss Bloon doesn't have intrinisic immunity of any sort (such as Gravelord Lych, who can etherealize to invulnerability), Glue Storm can essentially permanently apply the +2 damage debuff to the Boss Bloon provided the ability is spammed. This makes Glue Storm especially useful on Boss Bloon Events and Boss Rush for a global bloon debuff.
- It is extremely effective when coupled with Super Monkeys or other quick-firing towers, as it essentially adds +2 to every tower's damage, equivalent to Pat Fusty's Rallying Roar but covering the whole screen. Other effects that add bonus damage (including Alchemists, Super Brittle, and Cripple MOAB) only affect a few towers or Bloons at a time. Coupled with Glue Storm's short cooldown and long length, it makes for a cheap way to boost all towers, as well as for greatly weakening DDTs.
- Glue Storm can apply its debuff to Dreadbloon except on the Primary layer. This can make strategies reliant on damage increases stronger, evading the intrusive Lead properties and causing it to take more damage.
- In combination with Primary Expertise's 20% reduced Primary Monkey ability cooldowns and Energizer's global 20% reduced ability cooldowns, Glue Storm gains 90% uptime for application of the Glue Storm ability.
- Timing the Glue Storm ability is only truly necessary when anticipating DDTs or to carefully time a big boost in DPS on hyperdense rounds. It is especially worth timing on sustained DDT rounds such as Round 95, anticipating the popping of the BAD layer into DDTs, or when countering Boss Rush's incoming DDTs.
- It is even more important on Round 95, as this is the round that has the longest-lasting consecutive time for incoming DDTs out of any standard CHIMPS round.
- On shorter maps, Glue Storm as a total MIB skip on sharp attackers is not so feasible, after reducing the uptime of the ability to 15 seconds.
- The increased initial cooldown of Glue Storm compared to Glue Strike is hurtful on Race Events and Time Attack when using Glue Storm as an infinite pierce tower. In fact, the initial cooldown is a whole 10 seconds longer, due to how initial cooldowns operate with activated abilities with differing amounts when switching cooldowns between the T4 and T5.
Version History
Balance Changes
Once considered one of the worst Tier 5 upgrades in the game, Glue Storm had been given a series of buffs in earlier updates. The most significant buff that allowed it to become relevant in practical scenarios was in Version 8.0, allowing the ability glue to inflict vulnerability to affected bloons. Version 10.0 nerfed it slightly by fixing a bug that prevented only the 2-5-0 to apply onto MOAB-class, but is still useful to this day. Alongside further buffs to the Glue Storm to increase its reliability and synergetic potential, Ninja Kiwi allowed both crosspaths to affect MOAB-class in v39.0 to encourage crosspath variety.
Since the Glue Storm's various buffs, it has been a go-to support option for sharp-focused support, giving extra damage and stopping of lead properties for extensive duration. Because of this, it received a slight price nerf in v41.0 to cement it as a strong support option, and v43.0 following up with a reduced ability duration and removal of the bonus slowdown.
- 2.0
Ability duration increased (TBA seconds → 10s), adds extra slow, and has a shorter cooldown (40(?) seconds → 30s).
- 4.0
Cost reduced ($18,000 → $15,000)
Ability duration increased (10s → 15s)
- 8.0
Bloons caught in the storm will now take an additional +1 damage while glued. Applies to bloons glued via Glue Storm ability only.
Glue Storm ability can now affect MOAB-class bloons regardless of crosspaths.
- 10.0
Glue Storm ability no longer glues MOAB-class without the Corrosive Glue crosspath.
- 22.0
“ | Glue Strike currently allows for 240 crosspath to hit MOABs with 042 being more Ceramic focused but losing the Glue Soak from top path hurts against lower layers, so we've increased the base amount of layers glued by Strike & Storm so that it won't expire on non-MOABs so quickly. [...] | ” |
~ Ninja Kiwi, mostly referring to Glue Strike |
Glue Storm ability now soaks more layers (3 → 9)
- 29.0
“ | Glue Strike doesn't seem to hold up to any other option in a similar role, so we've doubled down on its support factor with a new role and are hoping for more synergy to emerge there. | ” |

Glue Storm ability now weakens Frozen and Lead Bloons, allowing them to take damage from any damage type
Glue Storm bonus damage taken while glued increased from +1 → +2

Glue Storm ability duration increased (15s → 20s)
- 39.0
“ | [...] Glue Strike for the longest time has had crosspath that only technically grants separate intended use cases, this choice though felt too niche and janky so that crosspath requirement is being completely reworked to allow the ability to hit MOABs regardless of crosspath. Glue Strike will instead work around the standard glue crosspathing benefits of more layers or longer duration. | ” |
~ Ninja Kiwi |
Glue Storm ability can now hit MOAB-Class Bloons even without 2-5-0 crosspath.
0-5-x Glue Storm ability layers glued decreased (9 → 3). Does not affect 1-5-0.
Glue Storm ability attack cooldown per strike reduced (2s → 1s)

“ | [...] Glue Storm is fantastic now however buildup tiers into it feel they serve little point at all, we're shifting price out of Glue Soak into MOAB Glue and from Glue Hose into Glue Strike so these weaker upgrades can come by sooner. [...] | ” |
~ Ninja Kiwi |
Glue Storm cost increased from $15,000 to $16,000
- Total price adjustment is +$800 due to Glue Splatter (-$200), Glue Hose (-$400), and Glue Strike (+$400) offsetting the cumulative prices.
- 43.0
“ | [...] Glue Splatter stands out as weirdly expensive for T2, and is rarely even needed so we’re significantly cutting its price to bring it down to a more affordable range with less pierce, we hope this should make it more worth considering for splatter coverage over piercing. Now that Glue Storm is extremely good for damage type & debuff support we’re removing the bonus speed reduction that should otherwise require xx2 crosspath and lowering the duration of the Glue Storm. Glue Storm range increased from 46 to 58.
Bug Fixes and General Changes
- 16.0
- Description changed from "Glue Storm ability pelts the whole screen over 15 seconds with glue." to "Glue Storm ability pelts the whole screen over 15 seconds with glue. Glued Bloons take extra damage while glued."
- 35.0 (?)
Corrected the duration number from the Version 35.0 duration increase from "15" to "20".
- 39.0
Description changed from "Glue Storm ability pelts the whole screen over 20 seconds with glue. Glued Bloons take extra damage while glued." to "Glue Storm Ability: Pelts the whole screen with glue for 20 seconds."
Extra Notes (Version History)
- Version 43.0 previously forgot to update the description of Glue Storm's duration from "20" to "15", but Version 44.0 reverted the duration nerf anyway, regardless of the increased ability cooldown of the Glue Storm ability implemented in Version 44.0. Hence, the duration in the upgrade description has become correct again.

Trivia
- The appearance of the four glue hose arms attached to the tanks is likely a visual reference to the Marvel Comics character Doctor Otto Octavius, A.K.A. "Doctor Octopus".
- The Glue Storm Power in Bloons TD Battles Mobile uses the same sound effect as the Glue Storm ability in BTD6.
- Even after the visual effect of glue raining over the whole screen is no longer in effect, the Glue Gunner still has its tubes waving around. This indicates the ability is still applying glue on new bloons every second.
- Before Version 8.0 gave Glue Storm's ability a damage vulnerability on affected bloons, many players were meming on Glue Storm as one of the worst T5 upgrades, after a variety of T5 towers such as Wizard Lord Phoenix were previously majorly buffed to become more effective.
