“ | Can collide with and shove MOAB-Class Bloons, reversing or slowing their movement. Shove is amplified by Bigger Jets and IFR upgrades. | ” |
~ In-game description |
MOAB Shove is the third upgrade of Path 3 for the Heli Pilot in Bloons TD 6. It allows the Heli Pilot to push back MOAB-class bloons (except BADs and Boss Bloons). When the MOAB Shove touches the hitbox of any MOAB-class bloon, it pushes the first collided blimp backwards. The MOAB Shove effect is more effective against weaker blimps but weaker against stronger blimps. MOAB Shove also gains an extra rocket attack that deals 1 damage, +2 damage to Ceramics and above, has 10 pierce, and a blast radius of 18. With Bigger Jets, the shove effect becomes stronger.
This upgrade costs $2,635 on Easy, $3,100 on Medium, $3,350 on Hard, and $3,720 on Impoppable. If this tower is nearby Level 6+ Rosalia's workshop, this upgrade costs $2,295 on Easy, $2,700 on Medium, $2,915 on Hard, and $3,240 on Impoppable.
Description
Overview

The Heli Pilot with the MOAB Shove upgrade gains a large grille on the front of it. Additionally, its side wings now have two green chevrons per wing instead of one. It gains two horizontal stabilizers, loses its tail rotor, and the vertical stabilizer is now green instead of grey like the rest of the helicopter.
MOAB Shove allows MOAB-class bloons to become pushed back whenever it is near the Heli Pilot's helicopter. MOAB Shove can only affect one blimp per helicopter and the helicopter shoving effect can only stack once. The stronger the blimp, the weaker the shoving knockback.
The MOAB Shove will shove MOAB-class bloons in different ways, dependent on the bloon types along with the quantities of the MOAB-class bloons crammed near the Heli Pilot. Single MOAB Shove Heli Pilots can only handle a certain number of blimps before the blimps push through them.
- MOAB - Single MOAB will be pushed backwards by 30% (pushed backwards at 41% speed with 0-1-3 or 0-2-3) by a single MOAB Shove Heli Pilot.
- BFB - Single BFB will be slowed to 10% speed (pushed backwards at 1% speed with 0-1-3 or 0-2-3).
- ZOMG - Single ZOMG will be only slowed down to 33% speed (slowed down to 22% speed with 0-1-3 or 0-2-3).
- DDT - Cannot be pushed without camo detection. Slows down to 33% speed (slows down to 22% speed with 0-1-3 or 0-2-3).
Official sources give the following as the values for the MOAB Shove, which indicate the speed of the blimps while affected by the shove.
Blimp | Shove value (003) | Actual effect (003) | Shove value (013) | Actual effect (013) |
---|---|---|---|---|
MOAB | -0.3 | Move backwards at 30% speed | -0.41 | Move backwards at 41,4% speed |
BFB | 0.1 | Move forwards at 10% speed | -0.01 | Move backwards at 1% speed |
ZOMG | 0.33 | Move forwards at 33% speed | 0.22 | Move forwards at 22% speed |
DDT | 0.33 | Move forwards at 33% speed | 0.22 | Move forwards at 22% speed |
Having multiple MOAB Shoves will not change the amount of knockback inflicted on the same blimp. However, more blimps can be stalled at once if there is more than one MOAB Shove on screen.
MOABs have a few seconds immunity to MOAB Shove after entering the map, and very briefly after coming out of their parents.
Targeting Priorities
MOAB Shove utilizes touch-based mobility and self-mobility to move around the screen with different flight targetings. Its main attack shoots straight movement projectiles, which originate from the Heli Pilot with its independent range like an ordinary tower.
- Follow Touch / Follow Mouse: Moves to where the player taps. On desktop versions, Follow Touch instead becomes Follow Mouse, which will make the Heli Pilot move to wherever the cursor is currently at.
- Lock In Place: Stops the Heli Pilot where it is when the Target Priority is selected. Can be adjusted to choose a different locked location.
- Patrol: Patrols between two spots chosen by the player. Can be adjusted to choose different points.
- Pursuit: Equivalent to the target priority First, except the Heli Pilot will follow in front of the bloons while shooting them. It is unlocked with the purchase of the second upgrade on the first path, with the same name as the target priority. Once upgraded to the respective upgrade, it automatically switches to this target priority.
The Heli Pilot's main attacks always default on First based on the range of the helicopter's weaponry. The shove effect is locked on Close.

Summary
MOAB Shove is the cheapest option for stalling MOAB-class bloons in the whole game, but it comes with low overall damage. The main benefit of MOAB Shove comes from controlling where it pushes back MOAB-class bloons. However, it can usually only stall one MOAB-class bloon at a time, so it tends to be outclassed by blimp-stalling options that are generally more reliable and don't fall off so easily further in the game, such as Maim MOAB or MOAB Press. On the other hand, it is one of the cheapest options to reduce progress of MOAB-class bloons, and comes with the benefit of mobility.
Besides the shoving effect, MOAB Shove adds a missile attack that has low pierce but is fairly accurate. It doesn't deal much extra benefit, but can be serve as a niche benefit on challenges such as Least Tiers that require popping of Leads and doing minor grouped damage. In contrast, the extra missile can be a nuisance when attempting Rubber to Gold farming (which disrupts Lead to Gold) or to maximize MOAB stalling.
Tips
- In many cases, it is better to go for 0-1-3 or 0-2-3 if the only purpose is to provide simple helicopter knockback to blimps. This is because adding Bigger Jets allows the Heli Pilot to travel faster, while the subsequent IFR upgrade allows the Heli Pilot to knockback DDTs. In addition, 0-1-3 and 0-2-3 deal greater knockback versus MOAB-class.
- On a couple of cases, 2-0-3 MOAB Shove is useful, as it can follow blimps without requiring extra micro.
- In general, MOAB Shove is not a good support tower late-game, due to it doing poorly against multiple MOAB-class bloons. MOAB Press and MOAB Glue are superior options during the late-game. Instead, MOAB Shove excels in the early mid-game to minimize the threat of spaced MOABs.
- MOAB Shove can completely prevent a MOAB or BFB from progressing and is cheaper than Maim MOAB. Therefore, it can be used if the Round 40 MOAB is a major problem for the defense. This also applies to the ABR Round 40 Fortified MOAB.
- Its mobile shoving effect makes it helpful against Resurrected Blimps, which move very fast, especially against T1 Gravelord Lych and its Elite counterpart.
Version History
Balance Changes
MOAB Shove has the greatest effect on near-permanently stalling early MOABs, but with many other anti-MOAB support options available, its power does not scale as much in late-game. Alongside a price cut, it has received a buff to its crosspath interaction with Path 2. Version 28.0 added a missile for MOAB Shove, which both nerfed its extreme mid-game stalling power and buffed its pure damage.

“ | [...] MOAB Shove has had a missile attack similar to xx4's mini comanches added to provide this path something extra for when the mini comanche are not active. | ” |
~ Ninja Kiwi |
MOAB Shove now gains an extra explosive rocket that has 10 pierce. It deals 1 damage to normal bloons 3 damage to Ceramics, and 3 damage to MOAB-Class Bloons.
In terms of damage, this is a straight buff.
In terms of stalling power, this is a direct nerf.

“ | [...] Downdraft has more general use throughout the game and scales better than the more expensive MOAB Shove upgrade though they both see use, so the price of these upgrades has been swapped around. Faster Darts xx1 upgrade will now increase the attack distance of Heli Dart attacks in order to assist with cluttering issues where large numbers of Helis will push each other away from nearby targets. | ” |

Trivia
- MOABs shoved back by MOAB Shove do not turn.[1] This is intentional, since the shoves are typically done perpendicular to the side of the MOAB and thus do not deviate the angle of the MOAB as it is shoved back along the map.
- Strangely (but also intended possibly) the MOAB Shove can push back MOAB-class bloons even if the front of the helicopter is not pointed at the MOAB.
