True Sun God is the fifth and final Path 1 upgrade for the Super Monkey in Bloons TD 6. Much like the Sun Temple, the True Sun God requires another set of tower sacrifices that will provide him greatly increased benefits. His hypersonic sun energy blasts now deal a base 15 damage 20 pierce, excluding additional benefits provided from sacrifices. The True Sun God cannot detect Camo Bloons without Ultravision or external camo detection. A Monkey Knowledge allows a maximized True Sun God to receive a substantial further increase in damage output when upon the time of upgrade, both of the other Tier 5 Super Monkeys owned by the player are present and outside of the temple's sacrifice range. It is considered the most powerful upgrade in the game, possibly excluding the Paragons, and it is central to deep freeplay rounds.

If Adora is at max level and is within a Sun Temple's range (not including external range buffs such as the increased range of nearby Monkey Villages), upgrading that Sun Temple into the True Sun God reveals her secret True Sun Goddess form. In the process, she will permanently acquire significantly increased damage and pierce, alongside several purely cosmetic changes such as gaining a godly appearance and distorting her voice.

This upgrade costs $425,000 on Easy, $500,000 on Medium, $540,000 on Hard, and $600,000 on Impoppable. For a full breakdown of sacrifice costs, see below.

With a lot of farming that had to take place to afford this tower, upgrading the Sun Temple into the True Sun God will play a short animation of the Sun Temple looking up into the sky, with a beam of light coming from its eyes. The head will swell and enlarge for 2-3 seconds until the head breaks apart and the True Sun God will emerge from the top of the temple, followed by a glowing effect. Note that this cinematic is purely aesthetic and the True Sun God will be able to attack at full power even while the animation is playing. Once it finishes transforming, the True Sun God's headdress gains a slightly more complex design compared to Sun Avatar, its fur is much whiter but still slightly yellow and its tail has white and yellow stripes. It wears a yellow necklace made of large, golden beads around its neck, and yellow wristbands are on its wrists.

Crosspathing with the tier 1 middle path only gives the red carpet for Super Range and the only change to True Sun God's appearance. However, technically, Epic Range's metal wristbands are already on the True Sun God.

True Sun God's artworks portray it in a bold manner. The upgrade icon displays the True Sun God's head, looking unamused or more possibly angry. The upgrade portrait shows the True Sun God floating above with an open mouth and wide open arms.

True Sun God's ultimate power comes from its much stronger attacks. At base, True Sun God shoots sun balls that deal 15 damage and have 20 pierce. These rays of sun receive Normal Type (pops Black, White, Purple, Lead, Frozen) Normal damage type, allowing for popping of any bloon type provided it can detect them. True Sun God takes another set of sacrifices of other towers to make it more powerful, improving its base stats or adding additional attacks that improve its arsenal. It receives additional sacrifice benefits on top of its preceding upgrade, Sun Temple. See the #Sacrifices section for further information about True Sun God's various sacrifices.

Targeting Priorities

True Sun God targets bloons using the standard targeting priorities. Its main attacks shoots straight movement projectiles. Sacrifices give the Sun Temple with multiple attacks that cannot simply be explained in a single paragraph.

  • First: Targets the first bloon visible within its range.
  • Last: Targets the last bloon visible within its range.
  • Close: Targets the closest bloon visible within its range.
  • Strong: Targets the strongest bloon visible within its range.

Adding Ultravision adds Camo Prioritization, allowing all its attacks to prioritize Camo Bloons over other types when this secondary targeting option is active.

Generate extra attacks if surpassing thresholds of sacrifices, and adjust if a copy of sacrifices from Sun Temple already exists. A maxed-out True Sun God requires intense financial input and careful planning of tower placements. More than $50,000 worth of up to 3 of the following categories of towers (Primary, Military, Magic or Support) must first be sacrificed to a Sun Temple and then a further investment of more than $50,000 of every category must then be sacrificed to the True Sun God to fully maximize its bloon destroying potential.

Each type of tower provides its own benefits to the True Sun God. True Sun God sacrifices are considered distinct from the original Sun Temple sacrifices, and can stack with another Sun Temple with Support sacrifices, even if not from the same Temple.

  • Gains 40% chance to distract bloons with its main attack.
  • Gains a forcefield attack every 5.0s that can knockback bloons up to Ceramic and MOAB. Affects up to 500 bloons. Adding additional sacrifices does not improve the forcefield attack; rather, the highest Magic sacrifice tier is used to determine the functionality of the forcefield attacks.
  • Two separate spawnings of mini Sun Avatars every 30 seconds that deal 4 damage per shot and without any footprint. A maximum of 6 mini Sun Avatars can appear on the map at one time, as the mini Sun Avatars have a lifespan of 64 seconds.
Support
  • +10 range to base Temple.
  • 40% discount to all base cost and upgrades of all towers in range.
  • +4 damage, 52.4% attack speed (0.6561x attack cooldown), +6 pierce, +40% range total for all towers in range.
  • +$10000 end of round cash.
  • +100% more cash from bloons popped within range of the Temple.
  • The buff from a maxed support sacrifice for the Sun Temple and the True Sun God portion are considered different and unique, even if there is only one support True Sun God, both buff icons will appear.

Vengeful True Sun God

The Monkey Knowledge point "There Can Be Only One" allows a further increase in the damage output of the True Sun God. When this MK is active, upon upgrading to a maximized True Sun God while also having The Anti-Bloon and Legend of the Night who must be placed outside of the sacrifice range, the True Sun God will sacrifice both of the other Tier 5 Super Monkeys, receive a visual overhaul, and gain +35 damage to all of the attacks. It is considered a 5-5-5 Crosspath Hybrid, much like the Paragons released later.

As long as the VTSG is in play, The Anti-Bloon and Legend of the Night cannot be purchased.

Other Interactions

  • The True Sun God upgrade increases its footprint from 20 to 25.
  • The True Sun God can sacrifice another Temple or even another True Sun God in co-op if it is in range.
  • Sun Temples and the True Sun God cannot sacrifice Heroes, Powers, or Paragons.
    • Because Temples have a larger footprint compared with its previous tiers, this means that powers can be inside a Sun Temple or True Sun God's footprint.
  • The Support Chinook is able to place towers inside a Sun Temple, and by extension, the True Sun God's footprint by chinooking a tower next to the Super Monkey before upgrading it to a Sun Temple, then upgrading it while the Chinook is still moving the tower. The Chinook will place the tower in the original spot, in the Sun Temple's footprint, as of v35.
  • Sun Temples and the True Sun God can be placed on water, but they need an Arctic Wind Ice Monkey's ice platforms or a Pontoon to provide a platform for the Sun Avatar. When the Sun Temple is bought near an Arctic Wind, the platform will be sacrificed and the True Sun God will remain on the water.
    • When placed in water, the Carrier Flagship buff and Admiral Brickell's Naval Tactics Ability will buff them, as they are considered water towers.
    • This sometimes sells the towers on the platform, and as a result, is able to heal Gravelord Lych indirectly.
  • The +50% cash buff from popping bloons in range of the True Sun God, and by extension, other temples, stacks with multiple Sun Temples.
  • The Support Class sacrifices do not affect the Golden Spectres or the Mini Sun Avatars.

Strategy

Summary

True Sun God is the most powerful tower in the game (without MK) in terms of DPS, possible through maximal sacrificing. Designed exclusively for epic late-game (Rounds 101+), the True Sun God can be used as the main form of DPS, outside of Legend of the Night's temporary black hole passive ability that instantly neutralizes bloons reaching past the exit for a limited time. The True Sun God's performance is greatly enhanced by adding additional tower buffs from as many sources as possible. If MK is enabled, it is preferable to have the Tier 5 Super Monkeys together as the Vengeful True Sun God rather than separately in most scenarios due to the multiplicative increase in the True Sun God's already extremely high attack power.

To optimize its performance, every single buff possible should be added to the True Sun God on top of careful sacrificing preparations prior to upgrading to Sun Temple and True Sun God. These include, starting from the most important:

  • Jungle Drums (+18% attack speed)
  • Maximum Ultraboost stacks (10x, for a total of +66% attack speed)
  • Consistent Overclock (temporary +66% attack speed, 66% uptime each, try two Overclocks)
  • Permanent Brew (+18% attack speed, +1 damage, +3 pierce, most importantly)
  • Homeland Defense (temporary +100% attack speed and +100% pierce, 44.4% uptime)
  • Multiple Call To Arms (temporary +50% attack speed and +50% pierce to cover the cooldown of Homeland Defense, 3x 66.7% uptime for the best results)
  • An external maxed Support Sacrifices Sun Temple (+20% attack speed, +2 damage, +3 pierce, most importantly)
  • Level 20 Adora's Blood Sacrifice ability (temporary +100% attack speed, +50% range, 600% uptime)
  • Energizer (20% ability cooldown to increase Homeland Defense, Ultraboost, and Adora's Blood Sacrifice ability uptime) if applicable.

By using the "Water Temples" trick, True Sun God can accept yet more buffs. To do the "Water Temples" trick, place a Sun Avatar on an Arctic Wind platform prior to upgrading to Sun Temple, and upgrade the Sun Temple to True Sun God. The following buffs can also be added to the True Sun God if water is available (either from the map or via Portable Lakes):

Alongside all these buffs, True Sun God greatly benefits from all the slows and stuns in the entire game, and in particular:

Debuffs such as Cripple MOAB, Super Brittle and Glue Storm are also very effective for epic late-game at destroying bloons faster with the True Sun God, most specifically when paired with many mini Sun Avatars.

Tips

  • Make sure to have LOTS of money before and after creating the maximum True Sun God. Additional support can benefit it very well.
  • The 5-2-0 True Sun God is better for covering extra range for utilizing its support sacrifices benefits. 5-0-2 is only useful when camo detection is unavailable externally.
  • The TSG with 2(9,9)-2(9,9)-2(9,9)-1(9) sacrifices is usually the best sacrifice combination. Although a 2-1-2-2 is stronger alone, a 2-2-2-1 is not missing out on the TSG buff, but the temple buff. You can use two support temples to surround the entire map with the temple buff, allowing you to gain the second military sac without losing out on your support.
    • Alone, the 2-1-2-2 is better. This is because the Military sacrifices are generally the weakest, and this can be the one that can be cut from the Sun Temple sacrifices, which accept only up to 3 of 4 categories instead of all 4 for the True Sun God. For one reason, its main attack buffs cap projectile speed and projectile size anyway, and the second reason is that the military sacrifices DPS are not very strong.
    • The "2(9,9)-1(9)-2(9,9)-2(9,9)" nomenclature refers to two parts: maxed Tier 9 sacrifices for Primary, Magic, and Support for the Sun Temple sacrifices; and maxed Tier 9 sacrifices for all 4 sacrifice categories for the True Sun God sacrifices.
  • Add as much support as possible, for the Temple and against the bloons especially since you should have the economy to afford Tier 5 upgrades quite easily at this point. Support with all the possible buffs in the entire game. Slow down the bloons with slows, stuns, and knockback. Add MOAB-class instakills too, especially versus the deadly BADs.
  • If the player opts for 5-2-0 instead of the 5-0-2 path for the True Sun God, the player will have to provide it with camo detection through other means, such as a Monkey Village with Radar Scanner.
  • For Boss Bloon Events, the True Sun God has an advantage against the Vengeful True Sun God if one wants just the Support buffs, as a 0-0-0-2 True Sun God is significantly cheaper.
  • True Sun Gods, let alone Sun Temples, are rarely used in CHIMPS due to its extremely high price and the lack of income generation. They are thus confined to Freeplay CHIMPS.

Balance Changes

True Sun God had always held its status as a staple of extreme late-game runs with its ultimate DPS potentials, though the addition of Paragons several years since release of the game has simply made True Sun God the strongest candidate for universal synergies with external buffs.

Optimizations for epic late-game runs are generally the main balance changes listed for the True Sun God, most of which are inherited from the Sun Temple upgrade.

We haven't looked much at Temples since the release of other paragons, as these have solidly carved out a place for themselves in Boss Events the original Temple has fallen behind, we wanted to try work on this again by improving upon the weaker temple sub-attacks, with this increased power we've also reduced the basic attack pierce gained on the main temple attack. We will be reviewing temple balance further soon so if, any of your feedback on this Rules, then we'll take that under consideration for our next look.

  • The True Sun God is currently the 6th most expensive upgrade in the Bloons TD franchise, when excluding its previous upgrades and sacrifice demands, behind the Navarch of the Seas.
    • The new most expensive upgrade in the game is the Goliath Doomship.
    • The True Sun God is the most expensive upgrade non-Paragon upgrade.
    • Excluding the Monkeyopolis with impossible amounts of farms, this is the most expensive tower that is able to be discounted by non-difficulty discounts.
  • The name "True" Sun God refers to how the Sun Avatars are merely channeling its power, discarding their former name of "Sun Gods" in BTD4 and BTD5.
  • True Sun God with Support sacrifices is one of the only ways to grant discount to 4th-tier and 5th-tier upgrades, as all Monkey Village upgrades only grant discount bonuses to up to 3rd-tier.
