Life Belt

The Life Belt (ライフベルト, Raifu Beruto^?) is a Level Up Item for Big the Cat in Sonic Adventure and Sonic Adventure DX: Director's Cut.

Description

The Life Belt is a green flotation device that allows Big to float and swim on the surface of water, rather than sinking. It also enables him to fish while in the water, potentially making the process of fishing much easier by allowing him to get closer to his targets.

By pressing and holding down the jump button whilst in the water, Big will dive down and can walk around on the bottom with the Control Stick. He will automatically float back to the surface once the button is released.

Location

The Life Belt is located in Mystic Ruins, and can obtained once Big needs to enter the Icecap stage as it is needed to clear said stage. It is located just before the entrance to the Icecap stage, where it can be found on the left side of the entrance to the room with the icy water pond.

Trivia

In the PC port, it is possible to beat Big's story without the life belt due to a bug in the game's physics.
In Sonic Advance 3, Cream puts on a life belt whenever she jumps on the water while having Sonic as her partner. With it, she is able float on the water's surface.
