~ Miku Hatsune in Miku Expo 2014. |
Hatsune Miku is a Vocaloid who was debuted in August 2007. Miku is a singing humanoid synthesizer, who debuted in Yamaha Corporation's VOCALOID2. Her voice sample is by the voice actress, Saki Fujita. Her base languages are Japanese, English, and Chinese, though you can tune her to be able to sing in many other languages.
She has appeared in almost every cameo role in a number of recent anime series, as well as guest-starring in some of them like Flower Fairy (also known as Flower Angel), Shinkansen Henkei Robo Shinkalion, and the third season of Dropkick on My Devil!.
Furthermore, she got her own game series, co-produced by SEGA and Crypton Future Media, called Hatsune Miku: Project DIVA in 2009. The series went on to have more than 10 games and even its own spin-off series, Hatsune Miku: Project Mirai. She also made an appearance as one of the main Virtual Singers of Project Sekai: Colorful Stage.
Appearance
Miku is a tall young teenaged girl of a slender and lean build, and has large teal eyes with pronounced black eyelashes, along with very long teal twin pigtails that come just short of the floor. Her outfit is a collared grey satin sleeveless shirt with a teal frill, the shirt’s sleeves continuing at her forearms with a black cloth material trimmed with teal. She also has a teal-colored tie, matching her eyes and hair. Along with that, she also has a short black skirt with a teal part at the bottom all around.
Her hair is kept up by two black futuristic ribbon like things made of a special material that floats in place, so they don't have to touch her hair, the inside of the ribbon things being pink.
Personality
Hatsune Miku does not have a personality that is considered canon, but this are what the media sometimes portrays her as.
Hatsune Miku is usually seen as a carefree and cheerful-hearted girl who is very good at singing. Although, she is heroically popular. She attends a lot of good things with her good friends like KAITO and other heroic Vocaloids, who have been friendly to her.

Other media
In addition to original songs that use her voicebank, Miku has appeared in a cameo role in a number of recent anime productions, including Baka and Test where she is in Class B in Episode 11. Miku appears as a playable character in the anime crossover mobile game Jump Force TCG.
In the Shinkalion anime series, an 11-year-old version of Miku is featured as a recurring guest character. Her appearance is a collaboration with the brand and her name in the franchise, 発音ミク, differs from her original name, 初音ミク, but is pronounced the same. Miku's connection to Hokkaido is a reference to Crypton Future Media's headquarters. Her age is also a nod to the 11-year anniversary of her original release on August 31, 2007. She pilots the Shinkalion H5 Hayabusa and appears in several episodes, as well as the anime film and a short flashback sequence in the Shinkalion Z series.
Miku also appears as a regular minor guest character in the third season of Dropkick on My Devil!, introduced as a collaboration with a brand. She is featured in various episodes, including Episode 1, where Jashin steals her spring onion and gives her a 100 yen coin in return. Miku also appears in Episodes 2-12, participating in various activities such as attending Devildom School, delivering a package, and taking part in a group dance. The collaboration song 'Thank You Dropkick!' is featured as the ending theme for Episode 9, and Miku is also featured on a special illustration following the credits.
Miku appears as the focus character of Colorful Stage! The Movie: A Miku Who Can't Sing.
Trivia
- In Project SEKAI, Miku is the only VIRTUAL SINGER to have her hair, eyes, and demeanor change to match the theme of each SEKAI.
- Hatsune Miku's voice can take on many original characters separate from Miku herself, such as pure pure or Brazilian Miku.
- Thanks to a recent trend of Godzilla and Hatsune Miku having crossovers with the same franchises in succession with each other, it's been jokingly remarked that the two are good friends in a similar vein to Isabelle and Doomguy.
