Saori, I wanted you to suffer as much as I did. Because I thought that was fair. But at the same time, you probably wanted to be saved as much as I did. You would also want to be happy. As much as I hoped. Saori, I know the reason why you are obsessed with Atsuko. Even if you deceived countless people and drove them into despair, if you could save someone in the end, there was such a wish that your miserable life of suffering could be saved by that too. that's it I know. Because Seia-chan was like that too. Yeah, so, Arius Squad, I'll pray for you. As much as I wanted my pain to go away, I want your pain to go away. As much as I longed for a second chance... I hope you have a chance next time. As much as I longed to be forgiven, so I will forgive you. I think that's a better ending than <fair>.
~ Mika forgives Saori Joumae.

Mika Misono (聖園ミカ in Japanese) is one of the playable characters in the 2021 roleplay RPG game Blue Archive from the Trinity General School. She is one of the three presidents of the Tea Party, the student council of Trinity, leading the "Pater Faction", one of the three major factions that make up the Tea Party, which rotate to avoid having too much control.

She is voiced by Kang Eun-ae in Korean, Nao Tōyama in Japanese and Gui Niang in Chinese. Nao Tōyama voices Chitoge Kirisaki in Nisekoi, Mualani in Genshin Impact, Kongou in Kantai Collection and Honami Ichinose in Classroom of the Elite. Gui Niang voices Sangonomiya Kokomi in Genshin Impact and Tsuyu Asui in My Hero Academia.

Overview

Mika serves as one of the main characters during the first chapter of the third volume, "Treaty of Eden", serving as a major antagonist during the second chapter where she attempted a coup d'etat in an attempt to prevent the signing of the Eden Treaty, a treaty meant to waive the long-lasting hatred between Trinity and Gehenna Academy, a counterpart of Trinity where chaos and freedom rule as opposed to Trinity's tradition of order and etiquette. After being defeated, Mika was detained until the third chapter, until finally snapping under the constant verbal attacks from other Trinity students, causing her to try to seek revenge on Saori Joumae and the Arius Squad for guilt tripping her into going with the coup. However, she realized her mistakes and made amends. She was able to return to her friends although she had most of her privileges as president removed. Afterwards, she played as the supporting character for the second and third chapter of the final volume, "Where All Adventures Begin".

History

Treaty of Eden

Originally, she planned to reconcile with Arius by simply visiting the school and asking if it was possible for both Trinity and Arius to reunite. She was able to come in contact with an Arius student named Saori Joumae, who relayed Mika's message to Beatrice, the student council president of Arius at that time. However, Mika's plans were intervened by Beatrice. Mika's original plans began to deteriorate and change according to Beatrice's plans with Arius, with one part of the plan requiring to knock out Seia Yurizono, the third student council president of Trinity. Although Mika requested that Arius only land a few bullets to knock Seia out, she received news that Seia was killed, completely devastating her, causing her to change her personality and be corrupted by her hatred, leading to her decision to attempt to wage war between Trinity and Gehenna Academy, Trinity's long-time enemy, unbeknownst to her that Seia only fell into a coma.

When her plan failed and she found out Seia was still alive, she realized what she had done wrong and was quickly forced to admit and regret her wrongdoings. She then decided to choose the path of obediently entering prison. However, not long after, Saori and the Arius Squad, a squad with the mission to destroy Trinity and Gehenna, under Beatrice's orders, carried out an attack on a cathedral, which truly threatened to start a war between Trinity and Gehenna. The Pater faction, instead of helping with the other factions, decided to commit a coup d'etat and freed Mika from prison, but for some reason, Mika instead dismissed their idea of waging war with Gehenna despite it being her long-time wish.

Later on, Sensei disappeared out of nowhere, and people on Trinity decided to blame it on Mika. Thanks to all the bad remarks the students made, in addition to her mental stability already on the verge of breaking, she lost her sanity and decided that it was Arius Squad, especially Saori, that caused this immense pain on her, leading to her decision of taking out Saori just so it would be fair. After a few confrontations however, Mika realized the bigger picture and that Saori also wanted someone to save her and her squad, resulting in Mika forgiving her and the whole Arius Squad, even aiding them and risking her life so the squad can have a happy ending. When Mika was brought back to Trinity, a hearing was held to decide Mika's fate, which was attended by the other two student council presidents, Sensei, and a few others. The hearing decided that Mika will rejoin the Tea Party with some privileges being revoked. Despite the other Trinity students protesting and claiming this was unfair, Mika learned to keep her cool and was willing to back down whenever people confronted her or tried talking bad about her in front of her face.

When Mika's main personality is put together, she is basically innocent, active, sociable, and doesn't care much about other people's comments or criticism, but she is delicate, vulnerable, and is extremely moody. If she becomes unstable, she can be considered self-destructive. Mika's low political prowess and inability to take in the atmosphere of the situation and make rational decisions resulted in her own demise. Mika only wished for good intentions, as revealed to her wish of reconciling with Arius, but despite the advices of Nagisa, her childhood friend, and Seia, someone who had foresight, she chose to run down her own path.

Relationship Story

Mika's memorial

After her hearing, Mika returns to her normal life. However, all of her rights and privileges as a Tea Party have been forfeited as a result of the hearing, so she and Sensei go shopping for supplies for school. At the bookstore, Mika buys a bunch of books, including reference books for her classes, but when she tries to buy something at the clothing store, her card is not accepted because of her impulse purchase at the bookstore earlier. After canceling several items of clothing, Mika panics, but her teacher pays for them with an adult's card instead. On the way back to Trinity, Sensei warns her that she needs to be more intentional with her spending in the future, and Mika berates herself for being pathetic when all she wanted to do was go shopping with Sensei, but Sensei assures her that she needs the items and that they are a gift to her for returning to her normal life safely, and encourages her to do her best in the future before sending her off to work and returning to the chalet. That evening, Mika asks Sensei about his plans for tomorrow to make sure he's made it back to Schale safely, but Sensei replies that he has plans for tomorrow as well.

Mika is pulling weeds in the playground to fulfill her 300 community service hours. Mika agrees to help, but when the teacher asks her to change into her gym clothes, she hesitates, but the teacher insists that she shouldn't wear the gym clothes she bought her, so she changes into her gym clothes. They spend the afternoon pulling weeds, and when the service is over, the teacher returns to Schale, leaving Mika to say something. That night, while washing her gym clothes and swimsuit, Mika texts Schale, but the teacher texts back that he can't meet up because he has a schedule.

At Mika's request for a moment, Sensei takes a few minutes out of his day to meet with her in the evening. In front of the dormitory, Mika offers to stop by her room for a cup of tea, which she accepts, having declined several times before. Mika then leads her to her room on the top floor of the dormitory, but the main entrance to the dormitory is closed because it's firing time and she can't get out. It turns out that Mika invited him to her room on purpose, just in time for the fireworks. Sensei is furious, but asks her why she tolerated it, and when she confesses that she just wanted to be with him for a while, he calms her down and stays quietly in her room until morning, sneaking out just as the main gate opens.

Mika sends the sensei a text asking him to come over for a minute, but she's noticeably more depressed than before, so he suspects something bad has happened to her. The sensei hurries over to Trinity, where he learn from the Trinity staff that Mika was on a swimming field trip and was being rude and disrespectful, which led to a fight between some of the students and an angry Mika, which resulted in her being placed on probation. Senesi questions the fact that Mika was on a field trip instead of swimming class because he had bought her a swimsuit the day before, but he doesn't want to make a big deal out of it, so he accepts the staff's request to take over Mika's custody. On the way out, Mika confesses that she's a troublemaker who causes trouble, and Sensei, worried about her, asks if she's being bullied and if she's lost her swimsuit, but she's too scared to mention the swimsuit and starts crying. The whole story is that some Trinity students who didn't like Mika stole her swimsuit, mangled it, and threw it in the trash, and Mika was so enraged that she tried to get violent, but she barely held back because she thought she might cross the line again if she did. After seeing Mika, who admits that she has tried so hard and has fallen out of favor with the teacher, and that there is nothing she can do to take it back, the teacher takes a moment with her to repair her torn swimsuit at a clothing store, and then takes her to the pool at the training camp, which was cleaned by the supplementary class during the first chapter of the Treaty of Eden. As Mika marvels at her torn swimsuit and the transformation of the dirty pool into something beautiful, the teacher tells her that the same goes for other things, and that no matter how many times he fails, he just has to start over. Mika is completely energized by this and quickly changes into her swimsuit. Mika teases the teacher, but the fact that they're alone in the pool on such a late night makes him very embarrassed, and he jumps into the pool, embarrassed himself. Just as they're getting cozy, a security guard bursts in, and the teacher makes a quick getaway.

Where All Miracles Begin

During the hearing day, it was decided that Mika was still allowed to join the Tea Party with the exception of certain privileges. After Mika's hearing ended however, protests began springing up around Trinity due to students who were dissatisfied over the decision of Mika's fate. Since Mika was considered an evil witch, she deserved all the necessary punishments equivalent to her actions, according to them. However, this wasn't the only problem Trinity had to deal with. A while after that hearing day, a world-ending catastrophe landed upon Kivotos, the city where the story takes place. As the skies turned crimson red, six ultra-dense energy masses appeared in various areas of Kivotos. Unknown monsters began appearing around these areas and were attacking people indiscriminately. Towers also appeared at five of these areas, each with a guardian of their own. The sixth tower and its guardian would only appear after the other five towers were destroyed though. Seeing the situation, the Sensei of Schale used their extrajudicial authority to request the aid of all students Sensei had made contact with, including Mika.

Operation: Nisir's Summit soon began. The premise of this operation iss that everyone will undergo two phases: the clearing phase and the destruction phase. The first phase would require the students to clear off the monsters and evacuate all civilians in their respective schools to make way for the destruction phase. The second phase is where they began to defeat the towers' guardians and destroy the towers. Mika was tasked to defend Trinity from the monsters. However, in the midst of the chaotic situation, she heard a friend of hers was trying to defend helpless students and civilians from hostiles. Worried for her friend, she rushed to the location and swiftly cleared all the enemies. Despite her actions though, the students there, besides her friend, were ungrateful of Mika's rescue as they still considered Mika as an evil witch.

After Invasion of Colors ends, she appears as attending a party, eating roll cake and talking to Nagisa. She is seen casually eating a roll cake as she sits next to Aru, a Gehenna student, demonstrating that she no longer hates the Demon race.

Personality

You are not a witch. You're just a delinquent student who doesn't listen and causes accidents.
~ Sensei to Mika.

Mika is one of the three student council presidents at Trinity General School, a school consisting of various different factions combines as one. She has a very optimistic, idealistic, and bright personality within the Tea Party, the student council of Trinity. She aims to reconcile with the Arius Branch School, a school that broke off of Trinity, for a very altruistic reason. She shows how optimistic she is by being friendly and lighthearted in her conversations although she sometimes comes off as inconsiderate towards the atmosphere of the room, whether it's being nice when she first met Sensei, the main protagonist of Blue Archive, or interrupting Nagisa Kirifuji, the other student council president, in the middle of a conversation.

Trivia

  • Her motif is Michael, a member of the 4 major angels. Her birthday is on the Feast of the Appearance of St. Michael the Archangel (May 8), one of the Catholic holidays, and it was assumed from the beginning due to her strong fighting power, her dislike of Gehenna associated with the devil, and the similarity of her name (Mika Misono, Michael). In fact, it was confirmed that her motif was Mikael in 'Quis ut Deus', the name of Mika's Unique Equipment, which was released after implementation.
    • Quis ut Deus? (or Quis sicut Deus?) itself is a Latin sentence meaning "Who (is) like God?", which is a literal translation of the name Michael.[1]
  • Mika's EX-Skill "Kyrie Eleison" comes from Ancient Greek which means "Lord, have mercy."[2]
  • Mika's Passive Skill "Gloria Patri", also known as "Glory Be to the Father", is a doxology, a short hymn of praise to God in various Christian liturgies.[3]
  • In the game's files, a total of 180 different expressions can be found for Mika spread throughout all her different portrait variants, making her the character with the highest total amount of facial expressions.[4]
